There is a catch - after 1 month I noted no extra interest given. Called and checked. Customer service said must go to their counters and tell them want to participate in the interest rate promotion BEFORE putting in money. Really WTF in this time and age to trouble clients to make a trip and add unnecessary work for its staff.

I just promptly TT the money out to another bank.

This type of typical modus operandi is to get clients to sit down with RM to be sold some toxic investment products. LOL

I used to park a sum of 150k in citibank priority.

Now the interest is really pathetic.

Thinking of parking at other instruments for better returns.  Any safe suggestions?

Gradually buying STI ETF on a monthly basis?

But STI is high now.

No free lunch. Higher returns means higher risks. Try Maybank, might get just a little higher interests. Cpf!

I just put in great eastern 3 year deposit @1.57% ( if accumulated) and 1.55% if withdrawing ....... anyways I’m using my SRS funds ....so I feel it’s OK for me ....... I think the offer or tranche has been fully subscribed , I know it’s not high but running around and checking and transferring is also not worth the effort

US 10 years treasury yield is at 1.6%, I won't lock in for 3 years, local rates are already moving up and may rise further.

I think it is a good time to lock in your mortgage loan.

It is a program which you must participate in.   you need to sign a form in fact.
So you didnt get the correct information or you misunderstood them.

What is your view of interest rate?

Rates will rise but stay relatively low by historical standard?

Definitely rise.  Over the course of next 2 years as it stands.
beyond that, no point guessing as its just a coin toss. Anything can come in and change the game.

yes low by historical standards if you mean 4% as history..
i think real rates can double from what it is today, over the next 2 yrs

My thoughts are next four years of lower than 2010s interest rate. Until Sibor expires and handover to Sora, that may coincide with a time that the world finally shakes off the shadow of Covid with the largest amounts pumped into the economy. Assets will inflate maybe up to 50% by then. And maybe another 10 years of Low interest rate also...

Sigh...0.05 better than nothing.
