Renegade777 5th Gear May 26, 2010 Share May 26, 2010 (edited) So much money pump into the Lexus and not fair. Both different class. No point competing coz people still go for GTR due to pricing even Lexus wins. Nissan can also pump in so much money then maybe outcome different leow. Toyota should just bring back the SUPRA for the job, maybe cheaper and definately can "makan" their own Lexus flagship. Frankly, if I have this Lexus I would not rev until like that. Throw so much money on it leow so must take care of it. Anyway, is the next giant NSX coming up ? Probably, this would be another V10 or V12 since Toyota is into it. Zyrofillica 1st Gear May 26, 2010 Share May 26, 2010 the LFA was initially supposed to be the affordable everyday man supercar. now the indicative price seems like a supercar supercar.

Wishcumstrue 6th Gear May 26, 2010 Share May 26, 2010 (edited) ....Toyota should just bring back the SUPRA for the job, maybe cheaper and definately can "makan" their own Lexus flagship.... New Supra? You mean that thinly veiled FT-HS concept? or the FT-86, another "poor-man's" sports toy ? If you compare the 2 with LFA, you may get a pretty good idea which direction Toyota is planning for... In the nutshell, LFA is more alike a Frankenstein-experiment too see how far they can push the super car engineering. You can be pretty sure those 10-years technical experience spent on developing the LFA will be applied in future production models...at a more affordable price. As technology and manufacturing efficiency improve, the cost will fall. VVTi engine is one example how it gets adopted into Toyota range from Lexus series. That eventual trickle down effect took years to work on. Edited May 26, 2010 by Wishcumstrue

Renegade777 5th Gear May 29, 2010 Share May 29, 2010 isn't the HSV the replacement for the NSX? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_HSV-010_GT Nah.......This one will cost a bomb man, just like the Lexus. Hope to see cheaper and mean cars like the GTR. Seems like the H and T have jump into the more expensive bandwagon.

So so power only, rear wheel drive which is more for drifting.
Mike1234 1st Gear May 29, 2010 Share May 29, 2010 FT 86 concept is a so called replacement for AE-86 (continued)... LFA Lexus will most likely to pit against Nissan GTR....
Weiming 1st Gear May 29, 2010 Share May 29, 2010 Is it a problem if the engine is not from Toyota? The Alfa 159 engine is actually a GM unit, Lambo power plants are Audi, Mini engines are from Peugeot etc, so are these cars any less worthy because of this? FYI, Yamaha has a long history of tweaking engines for Toyota. Some of their work include the 2000GT, Supra, various Lexus models etc. Did you know that Lotus makes its bulk of revenues not from its road car division but from contracting their suspension know-how to other car makers? So does that also mean these car makers should be derided? And the engine is not even design by Toyota but Yamaha [laugh]

We are getting in the world of globalisation and it is going to be an increasing trend to rely on different car makers for different parts/mechanisms/tuning. Buying a car just because the Engine/Parts is "branded" is just too superficial!

I am not sure how Toyota-ish can one get with this name ! The only thing that is very very un-Toyota is each 500 production units will be hand-assembled. And yes, you are right in the long history of Yamaha-Toyota relation in the high performance engine development.
