Blackseal 1st Gear May 21, 2010 Share May 21, 2010 SINGAPORE, May 21, 2010 - FOOTBALL fans in Singapore now have another option to watch 2010 World Cup matches for free. McDonald's will be screening live matches of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa at it's 24-hour restaurants in the lion city. A total of 34 outlets in the city and heartlands like Ang Mo Kio and Bedok will be screening the matches despite the recent announcement on the price hike for rights to publicly screen the World Cup matches. "Over the years, our restaurants have become friendly football hubs in many neighbourhoods, as football fans gather with their buddies and families to catch the World Cup or Barclays Premier League match screenings over their McDonald's favourites. "This year, we are more excited than ever about bringing the World Cup action to life - we anticipate our restaurants to be an even more popular choice for football fans who want to catch the World Cup action on TV for free," said Agatha Yap, Marketing Director for McDonald's Singapore. In addition, McDonald's has also teamed up with the Coca-Cola Company to bring customers a limited edition Coca-Cola Contour Glass series with the World Cup theme. The six different coloured glasses are each embossed with official 2010 FIFA World Cup football figures, carrying a different football pose showing a bicycle kick, header, kick, save, volley and strike. The promotion will kick off before the matches on 3 June, whilst stocks last. Tedlhw 5th Gear May 22, 2010 Share May 22, 2010 I guess that great news for most.... Kinda fun to watch with friends.... Can kpkb also... But i think paying $70 is more cost effective. Watching there at midnight sure hungry.. You go there buy a meal already $5-$7 + Parking+ petrol+ Effort... hmmm.... Isn't that penny wise pound foolish, given all the uproar over the price of world cup? Just some stray thoughts...
SimonTan 2nd Gear May 22, 2010 Share May 22, 2010 Very good point! Waste money to buy the fast food and get fat some more! Although got free aircon. But the seats are hard and stiff. Unless you brig your own recline chair and bolsters there. Then after the game still got to walk or drive home, cannot just plonked down on the bed or sofa to sleep. I think my $70 spent at home better. But some days will still got coffee shop and macs for the occassional buddy buddy shouting excitement fun lah. If you die hard fan than yes, better pay S$70 stay at home and watch.... will be more worth it... although not much saving on the food... where you watch the match will be the same... you will still get hungery... ..... just more convenient at home..... But if you are one who only catch the match of the country you sapport, then go kopi shop better... at least got more kakis there to shout shout together.... just order kopi.... bring own peanut/potato chips... ... and also, from semi to final, can catch FOC at home..... ↡ Advertisement
