Jamesgetz 4th Gear July 4, 2010 Share July 4, 2010 Cant find replacement S/S air filter? Model 17801-28040 Toyota Estima Hybrid Shape of element : Long Rectangle my advice is not to use such stainless steel filter. the performance gain is not worth the amt of dirt/dust that is going into the engine
5936 1st Gear July 4, 2010 Author Share July 4, 2010 So what would you recommend. Stock fiber filter is $40 a piece..
Limiter Neutral Newbie July 4, 2010 Share July 4, 2010 Hurricane filter is suicide for your engine over long run. It is almost as good as no filtration to particles. I would say k&n is the most ideal that u can consider.
5936 1st Gear July 4, 2010 Author Share July 4, 2010 I wont mine SS or cotton, as long as I can reuse them. But so far, can find K&N replacement for my model... That is the problem.... Any cure?

There are 4 K&N SG dealers listed here: http://www.knfilters.com/search/dealersearch.aspx Since they are official dealers, if they don't have stock I believe they can order for you... unless K&N don't make filters for your car. Carer 2nd Gear July 5, 2010 Share July 5, 2010 The problem with aftermarket drop in filters is that it allows a higher amount of dirt into the engine. unless u plan to drive for 2-3 yrs, i suggest keep the air filter paper.
5936 1st Gear July 5, 2010 Author Share July 5, 2010 Stock paper or fiber filter has the best filtration properties. Have to live with partially dirty filter until cannot clean anymore. I am quite sure, they dont have drop in for my model. Maybe have to KIV, until they make.

I used K & N replacement filter in my previous Celica-ST204 (in aus) since the 2nd week I owned the car. I drove this car for almost 8 years then sold it to a friend of mine. Well, it's been almost 20 years and last time I checked with my friend (few months ago), the engine is still running alright.

Thks for the advice Bro, if you want to mod, go for the Tom's Linear Throttle System and Fuel Mapping combination. Specific to Estima Hybrid model. Should feel more powerful without too much effect on FC. Try TRD Sportivo at Sin Ming. I have been looking for aftermarket air filter too, but in vain. Anyway, I find it really difficult to remove the air filter from the engine compartment. Such a tight fit.
Thedream 3rd Gear September 19, 2010 Share September 19, 2010 Air with dirt goes into the combustion chamber and is ignited with petrol. Any soot, together with the dirt, is carried away by the engine oil. So using aftermarket filters shouldn't be a problem if you change your engine oil regularly. ↡ Advertisement
