MPVs are vans, and true that many look like van. No choice as there is need for more space.

Citreon - Berlingo

Ford - Galaxy

Hyundai - Trajet

Kia - Carnival

Mazda - Mazda 8

Mitsubishi - Delica

Nissan - Lafesta, presage

Opel - Zafira

Renault - Grand Espace

Suzuki - APV

Toyota - Alphard, Estima

going through the list, Renault Grand Espace, the grand father of MPV, is the better choice:

2.0T engine

individual std size seats for all, including the last row.

Where is Honda?

Honda - Stream, Ody, Stepwagon

This is a problem for most AT car. CVT or maybe DSG will not have this issue. :D

erh,

my current Toyota 1.3L using 4CVT....and so is the Wish leah....

all have this dragging sensation, with the engine screaming and whining back at me.....

(thanks to the nature of CVT to rev to the maximum powerband available from the engine)....

yet, still not going any faster up the slope under partial load conditions (not talking about full load)....

my 1.3L under full load up a mild slope, will decrease in speed, though the engine is working it's best....

haha....

Hmm... then it's the Toyota CVT no up to Nissan's...

Honda Stread 5AT also lose speed when going up slope in NSHW. The trick is, to go up to 130km before the start of the slope. Then, it will reach the top with speed still at 110km, remain 5th gear.

If try to keep at 110km before the climb, then the speed will drop very fast and very frustrating to see the Proton or Peroda overtaking you. [:(]

I think this is the trade off to have good FC at high speed where we lose some power.

you left out Daihatsu Terios-7....

aiyah....

might as well say Volvo XC90 or Land Rover Disco 4???

[laugh] [laugh]

Terios 7 is even smaller than your current Wish right?

XC90 is way over your budget right? Since you mention Estima already out of your budget.

happened to pass by the VW showroom today....

decided to take a look at the Caravelle....

middle seats could swivel to face the rear seats (I like)....

and there's this big table right smack in the middle (adjustable lengthwise) of the rear cabin....

pity though, 3rd row only can take 2 in comfort (full sized adults that is) though it's a bench....

and boot space i suppose was tiny (VW locked up the rear tailgate, so i can't open the boot)....

didn't have the time to test the car/ van though....

but i guess the 2.0TDI Bi-Turbo 180bhp 7DSG will be a hoot to drive....

0-100kph in 11.3s nia....

Neutral Newbie

Why not try Proton Exora it quite good though its made in Malaysia. I test drove it before, feels alright. Then if can go over ur budget and make a one time invesment go for citroen C4 Grand Picasso. Mostly every week end they have Promotion, it sure feels like continental Audi or BMW.

Then Terios 7 is a good buy for those who needs simple 7 seater.

Kia Carens will be the next one.

Wish and Stream are simply too ex now.

Terios7 is a decent car should your family need the space....

but definitely not worth the $85k pricetag....

and fuel consumption from the 1.5L engine at 10km/L is quite pathetic....

plus 0-100kph (Auto) is 15.3s.... [sweatdrop]

I understand the Carens Elite will be due for replacement???

Yes, kia caren likely to be replace by hyundai new platform i30m. Is a 1.6 ltr, 140hp, 6speed gdi engine

looking forward to it,

though it'll most probably have the 2.0GDI or 2.4GDI engine lah....

1.6L cannot move with ease....

[sweatdrop]
