This was a concept car a couple years ago for Merc. Asked my SE about it, and she said the actual car won't be for sale, however in years to come there will be models representing the technology of this car. Miles 4th Gear August 9, 2010 Share August 9, 2010 Diesotto is Mercedes speak for a more generic name, known as HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition). As the name suggest, Diesotto combined the use of common rail diesel injection on otto combustion cycle (used on common petrol spark ignition engines) to achieve high power output at low displacement and fuel consumption. Mercedes is not the only car maker studying the implementation of HCCI engines.
