Now this will give honda a run for their money, cos with this new gearbox and added features, these kia performs as well as honda cars but at a much cheaper price.

On papers, 2.0 Civic vs 2.0 Kia is similar and overall, civic lost a little.

However on roads, everthing is different.

Honda

Engine type 4-strokes 16-valves DOHC i-VTEC

Compression ratio 9.6

Bore x Stroke (86.0 x 86.0) mm

Power 155 bhp

Torque 188 Nm

Kia

Engine capacity 1,998 cc

Engine type 4-cylinders in-line

Compression ratio 10.5

Bore x Stroke (86.0 x 86.0) mm

Power 156 bhp

Torque 194 Nm

S$100K for a 1.6L Kia Koup...no thanks.

for 100k you don't really have much choice leh

unless you are willing to fork out 120k for a civic, but 150k can get a bmw 3 series previously, so 120k for a civic is crazy talk too

On the statements of your monthly bank account, EVERYTHING is different too.

paying so much lesser for the forte than the civic.

Then why choose brand new?

Used car with such price tags are like hmmm..... MPS?

2.3T with 6 speed, awd, 8 airbags, Bose sound system...

Actually I did wanted a civic however pricy tag.

Forte cannot out perform it and found a MPS in the market for sale less then $6000 per annual.

Upon checking on insurance and maintenance, running cost is the same.

you are comparing a used car to a brand new one

with this comparison i can also say that a volvo s80 is cheaper than a new forte!

here you go, 50k only! 2.5T with german engineering, volvo's top of the line

annual payments is around the same as a forte, 50k for 5 yrs vs 100k for 10 yrs

well with the new more efficient gear box, the diff between this new engine and a civic is marginal but pric diff is [crazy] Only gripe is that the forte/koup is using torsion beam setup in the rear, so suffer abit in terms of handling.

people rather buy BMW 318i and Mercedes C180CGI than to buy a Kia Forte sedan/ Koup now with the high COE prices....

getting a used one seems being cut-throat too....for 2nd hand owners are selling at prices they bought their cars....

the only sensible buy is to get a 4-5yr old car.....

Honestly I rather buy a Ferrari than a merc or BMW

But I don't have the money, if I have to change my car now I might have to settle for a qq. At least it looks cute

Handling will definitely improve! Try driving a vios n feel the difference!

Driving at just 40km/h in a vies feels like 80km/h in a forte! The light suspension makes you feel that you are about to lift off every time the acclerator is stepped on

It's comfort that gives, not handling
