TS,I feel you should give korean car a look.No doubt their build quality are not proven yet,but they are improving fast.71k forte compare to 79k to get a city with all the features,I would say 71k forte much worth it.Use the saving to pump petrol, maintenance and easily can last you up to 5 yrs.Of course, the "seh" of driving a jap make vs korean make is there lah. This kind of social stigma can't change one.

zun boh?

their proton Savy also tune by lotus leh [sly]

zun boh zun? I'm not sure.

But I bet their marketing campaign will sell this point.

They have old Waja, Persona and Exora in their resume. Satria Neo [thumbsup]

The newly launch, should have most parts from Mit, Japan including engine before they slowly source from local.

So, want to buy, buy the early batches.

This is what I heard. Don't [smash] me if you got a lemon.

Hi all

please advise what is the best entry level 1.5L japanese sedan car

some choices as below

Toyota Axio

Toyoat Vios

Nissan Latio

Mitsubishi Lancer

Honda Airwave

other entries are welcome!

I hope this thread will help first time buyer of entry level car!

Nicest look Lancer EX, biggest boot airwave, Latio most comfort and better interior and gadgets, Axio an average all rounder, Vios look like frog but probably has the best fc.

My pick will be latio or Axio. If can stretch the bugget abit, I will recommend Allion...

im driving a city and i really like it. yea thai made and looks very cheap. but overall it's a very good point to point car plus good fuel consumption and quite spacious seating and boot. if u wanna compare to other cars regarding acceleration and power etc then i think you're definitely looking at it from the wrong point of view. looks wise? can always change using aftermarket bodykit/interior designing. what i feel personally that you should look out for when buying a car would be the engine and space because those u cant change. everything else can be modded. engine made in thai but still from honda leh. surely must pass their standard.

but i must say honda city is rather pricey now. i got mine for 70k when coe was 30k + 5 yr warranty so that was a bargain. now almost same price as civic last time so might not be worth getting.

Actually the City is not fully Thai made, there are some parts that still come from Japan for eg, the Engine.

i feel that latio fits my requirements just right...

Boot space is there

Comfort is there

Price is abit expensive compare to Vios or Lancer

Car Guru...

Any car that can fight with latio in terms of price and comfort?

Latio legs room is huge but not bum room.

If you need to install 2 child seats side by side, middle person's bum cannot squeeze in.

Otherwise, it is really a good family car.

very true.

i sat in airwave & it's definitely the most spacious among 1.5 cars but bum room is still cramped.

actually, in this class, which 1.5 car has big leg room & bum room?

Assembly is done in Thai...

Most parts like the engine, chassis, transmission are from Japan...

Based on technical spec, the two korean 1.6 have better bum space by 6-10cm.

Yes ... Korean car is cheaper but in terms of maintenance and FC wise.... Jap car win in this expect...

hence overall, cost wise it is about the same if you buy korean car
