Mini-itx Clutched September 25, 2010 Share September 25, 2010 I just wonder if SG MRT stations are haunted or something. We need to build doors in order to prevent people from falling onto the tracks... By contrast, the wrold biggest New York Subway (by number of stations) don't even have any doors for their platforms. Furthermore, you can see their yellow line is right the width of 2 tiles right the at edge. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:De..._Shankbone.jpg So something wrong with the design of ours stations or something wrong with our people or what? Maybe people cannot see the yellow line because its too narrow? ↡ Advertisement
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear September 25, 2010 Share September 25, 2010 actually have mini doors is good.... but it's really better for them to air-con the whole station lah....
Yeobh 4th Gear September 25, 2010 Share September 25, 2010 (edited) There are just people who love to do copycat. Hopefully there is no need for the Garment cover up the surrounding seas and put safety nets below all high rise buildings to take care of all those with faulty CPU Edited September 25, 2010 by Yeobh
Darthrevan Supercharged September 25, 2010 Share September 25, 2010 if you board up the MRT stations, there might even be a rise in highrise "accidents"..you can't really stop pple from seeking escapism..there are simply too many ways to "go". when these pple are trying to do is to create attention and to "drag others down with them". Davidklt Supercharged September 25, 2010 Share September 25, 2010 (edited) Nothing is wrong. Everytime an accident happens the general public pressure SMRT to build barriers. As with most Singaporeans, laid the fault with authorities rather than those at fault. Edited September 25, 2010 by Davidtkl
Ender Hypersonic September 25, 2010 Share September 25, 2010 Actually NYC subway has many accidents with people falling off the track... It's either the authority respond to improeve the safety or can totally ignore it.
Kensk Clutched September 25, 2010 Share September 25, 2010 SG too crowded. See mountains of people until feeling faint..hence easy to fall into tracks.
Sabian Turbocharged September 25, 2010 Share September 25, 2010 like they give a damn in NY subway if someone kills themselves.
Tjkbeluga 5th Gear September 25, 2010 Share September 25, 2010 I think the barrier is good too. Just that it makes the station feels hotter especially when it's crowded. New York may not have it but large part of Tokyo subways does have such barriers.

themagi Neutral Newbie September 25, 2010 Share September 25, 2010 (edited) Just stay away from the edge until the train stops for boarding to prevent being accidentally pushed onto the track. Basic urban jungle survival skill, which includes look at oncoming traffic when crossing the road. Edited September 25, 2010 by themagi

Tansrb Neutral Newbie September 25, 2010 Share September 25, 2010 actually to be honest, if ppl really wanna jump, would the gates hinder them? definitely not. they'll just find another way of killing themselves
Karoon Turbocharged September 26, 2010 Share September 26, 2010 actually to be honest, if ppl really wanna jump, would the gates hinder them? definitely not. they'll just find another way of killing themselves yeah but at least supermen will not make you late for work/school. you might stare but you'll still catch the next bus. mrt jumpers, on the other hand.... singaporeans asking for barriers are not concerned about those sad souls, its more about their own inconveniences. sad fact.
