I am thinking of getting a notebook or netbook to replace aging desktop.

Basically the intend is to surf net, simple word processing, simple photo editing like resizing, rotating, etc.

download and watch TV series online

One question though, is netbook powerful enough to perform the above????

Can anyone advise me...

TIA

It is possible, but do you mind the size of the screen on net book? Cause you are using it to watch TV series, so size matters, but if you are going to be watching those 720-1080p or BR video then a note book will be better. Best is still desktop cause they are so cheap and perform so much better compared to notebook if you customize them.

I want a notebook so that I can bring it around the house since I have kids to look after..hmm..I was thinking of netbook and hoop up to the TV when watch movies, etc.

Anyway, I don't intend to spend more than 800 SGD on notebook or netbook whichever since it is not going to be heavily use. So looking either at a big screen netbook or big screen i3 processor notebook

Yes, i just bought a new ASUS last Tuesday to do similar jobs like you. But the screen is only 12.1". Need some time to adjust to the smaller screen. :D

actually just do what i do.... have the best of both world

get a net book with a docking station hooked up to a 24" LCD and Keyboard

but only if you don't need the computing power...

for me mostly surfing + watch movie so best.

anytime wanna bring the netbook out just unhook and walk off.

problem with netbook is that it lags sometimes when playing videos

cant handle MKV even when my vaio is overclocked to 2.4ghz

you undervolt it?

ya because not enough power to deinterlace MKV. DVD still ok.

Somemore im running Windows 7 Aero at the same time.

Hate the speed throttling
