Hi guys,

Anyone went on Leisure World before? The 'gambling' cruise?

Got a question I would like to ask... is it easy for old folks to board Leisure World from the small ferry? Need to cross bridge or walk up the gangway by the side of the cruise? Scary or not ah?

Yep, went several times a week about a year ago. Not to gamble though, to teach the staff there Basic Wines & Spirits Knowledge! Lots of old folks there, but those are more or less mobile. Hopping from ferry to ship and vice-versa, there will be crew members there to help people on and off board, so it's certainly possible for elders. Unless one is wheelchair ridden, or extremely old and almost immobile...

Thanks alot Yeshe and Hermitage! Intend to bring my old folks there. MBS and RWS too ex :P

A gentle word of warning though. If you smoke, it's like paradise, everywhere and anywhere also can! At the gambling tables, while chilling out at the lounge, and even in the restaurant! [thumbsup]

If you don't however, it can be a living hell [knife]

The last time I was onboard the MV Leisure World was in 1993. Went for cruise from SG to Langkawi. It was great relaxing cruise.

Only thing I remember very well was a sailor fell overboard while painting the ship side at Langkawi. The Australian navy was nearby and activated their divers to search for the body. I saw them bringing up the body of a filipino sailor. Whole body bloated and purple in colour.

Overall, it was a great 5D4N cruise. Eat full full, played basketball and my first time watching Indecent Proposal by Demi Moore. Can see her neh neh one. :D Too young then so cannot enter the casino. [laugh]

I went for a 2d1n cruise on leisure to batam in 1996/5 when i was still pri 1 or 2. hahaha. That time was still quite nice.

I been up to leisure world a couple of times these 2 years. Now relegated to a gambling ship, quite run down now.

can share some experience, intend to bring mum for a day trip.

I have been onboard once. You are taking ferry from TMT or boarding from Harbor Front? Cos every week they are scheduled to dock at HF. I dunno the schedule for HF cos I took ferry from TMT.

I went on board to do some work for the company managing the cruise. If taking ferry there's a transit at batam island to take another ferry before the passengers board the cruise in open waters outside singapore. If you are going for half a day there's no need to book any room. You can go on board gamble, eat, whatever and then go back late afternoon via ferry the same way you came. I forgot the timing schedule for the ferry. You can find out more at the counter at TMT. You can buy a ticket from there and board. That time I board at around 10am. You can park at the open parking at TMT.
