Ak7887 1st Gear November 3, 2010 Share November 3, 2010 As age catches up, I realise that I am driving more sensibily and more patient on the road. The every hand wave `thank you' to those who gave way to me makes me feel even more so to be a responsible driver. Hey, I'm no angel too. I had my fair share of making mistakes on the road and irritating other road users with my irresponsible driving habits, just like many of us. Well, isn't it true that its always the fault of others and never yourself when it comes to road aggression? I feel that we should start to think of our habits on the road and what our actions may cause to others, especially when the holiday seasons are coming, drinking merrily and driving crazily. Its time to help each other make the roads safer and don't be the cause of accidents. Everyone has a family. Think for others please. If you are the cause, and if someone dies or seriously hurt, their family will be heartbroken, and you will regret forever. So, before you attempt another one of those bad habits, I hope your thoughts are out for the road users you are affecting. I like to start a list of bad habits most of us are guilty of and hey, maybe its a good idea that our New Year resolution is to change all that :) If you agree with me, please add to the list, anything that irritates you on the road. Hopefully all of us will be sensible and start thinking and responding positively on the road. Happy Driving!! The list of bad habits by motorists:- 1) road hogging 2) drivers who follow too closely behind 3) those who likes to swerve in and out, bloody dangerous! 4) fog lamp users (seriously, your cars dun look more macho, but more irritating) 5) those who likes to brake hard 6) those who likes to slow down near to an accident, and itself nearly causing an accident. 7) those who r lazy to put signal lights while turning on the second turning lane which is meant also for going straight 8) those who fails to stop when turning and allow pedestrians to cross the roads first. Major potential accident! 9) those who do not like to turn on headlights in covered carparks, but strangely turn them on at night haha. Honestly, most covered carparks are dimly lit, day or night. 10) those who likes to show off when there are ladies in their car... and they may not like it. Pls add to this list and share with everyone :) ↡ Advertisement

Mikethm Clutched November 3, 2010 Share November 3, 2010 Absolutely weird how the worst bad habit isn't in the list... Speeding. Speeding is the No.1 cause of accidents. Speeding is the No.1 killer on the road. Speeding is defined as driving at a speed above the road prescribed limit.

Yattokame 4th Gear November 4, 2010 Share November 4, 2010 I had been a very impatient driver for years. overtaking, horn, anything goes since I got my licence and first car. But the moment my wife is pregnant, and now I drive an MPV, I have been driving real carefully, and my wife says, graciously. The perks? Much better fuel consumption (save money since my milegae is high), still feeling fresh after the drive (save energy), and guess what, even if you sprint faster than the other clown, both of you still end up together at the next traffic lights. Happens to a lot of cars I see on the road that drive rather recklessly. End up I still behind them at the next junction. There's this colleague of mine whom I will see every morning zooming past me on the highway. And yes, I always end up behind him at the junction outside our office. Either that or by stroke of luck, in front of him at the traffic lights crossing. Ends up clocking into office at the same time, or at most, a minute difference. That said, I make it a point never to hog the road (always go on centre lane at speed limit, depending on traffic conditions) and give way where possible, and ALWAYS SIGNAL. If the joker don't give way, so be it. My life is worth more than getting upset over such lowlife's.
S7834g Clutched November 4, 2010 Share November 4, 2010 Here's a good read for some of our younger and hot blooded drivers http://cars.uk.msn.com/features/photos.asp...entid=155157663 I believe that if we all take an effort on following half of the points referred, then we'll have a better driving experience on our roads. Crazecow Neutral Newbie November 4, 2010 Share November 4, 2010 Absolutely weird how the worst bad habit isn't in the list... Speeding. Speeding is the No.1 cause of accidents. Speeding is the No.1 killer on the road. Speeding is defined as driving at a speed above the road prescribed limit. IMHO, speeding need not be the worst. I feel reckless driving would be the worst. If you drive at 110KM/H on expressway w/o any cars around, you are unlikely to cause any accidents. But if you drive recklessly on a busy road (eg. weaving between lanes, cutting lanes despite insufficient space causing others to jam brakes to avoid knocking into you etc), then you don't need to be speeding to cause accidents or even deaths. Even going at 50-60 on a 70KM/H is sufficient to cause accidents.
Crazecow Neutral Newbie November 4, 2010 Share November 4, 2010 From what I have seen (esp. cab drivers) some of they are bloody reackless on the road even though they are no speeding. I just met with one wish taxi along river valley today. The idiot just brake hard on the road (near the Esso petrol station) and stop w/o any reason. No hazard lights or anything. No cars infront of him either. No passengers too. Then after around 5sec other cars begin to horn so I horn as well. Then he slowly move off and enter the petrol station. If I am following closely and sleeping, confirm bang into him and he will be able to claim $80K from me. Fat hope! I was going slow keeping my distance and hence no chance of accident. Too bad I didn't have a video camera installed, else confirm download the video and post to cab company to complain.
Ak7887 1st Gear November 4, 2010 Author Share November 4, 2010 Hi everyone, this whole exercise is not only to pinpoint others's bad habits, but also to see if we are guilty of commiting them too, which we believe we have. So kudos to anyone who have contributed. And if you hate what you see on the road, remember try your best not to do it too :) We are all for better road experience. Pls continue to add more to the list. ↡ Advertisement
