Ethene 1st Gear December 1, 2010 Share December 1, 2010 10 mins ago i came back from a work shop. I saw the workshop guy instead of "slam" close my bonnet, he press it down to close my bonnet in lock position. AND THEN WTF SMLJ MY NEW BONNET NOW GOT 3 dents at the area he press. Who experience this?! or is it just my bonnet material is too "soft" ?! And these s--t make me lose my sleep. ↡ Advertisement

MX5NC2 1st Gear December 1, 2010 Share December 1, 2010 He must have bionic hands! But come to think of it - my car's bonnet is ultra light but not soft. Yet to give it a try, but if I were to drop it I doubt it would actually close. I've been pushing it shut since day one and haven't noticed dents, or maybe I should have a closer look now that I've read this - eeks!
Yeshe Turbocharged December 1, 2010 Share December 1, 2010 u not supposed to slam ur bonnet cover one no need to slam down, just release your hand from like 20cm n the gravity will do the work nicely. shouldnt close n press down either, confirm will get dents

Jamstart 1st Gear December 1, 2010 Share December 1, 2010 I also dont slam-close my bonnet. Are you sure the dent is caused by the hand?

SGCMmaomao 6th Gear December 1, 2010 Share December 1, 2010 if u drive out of the workshop already, there's no point to return.. they can act blur or turn nasty on u..
13177 Supersonic December 1, 2010 Share December 1, 2010 The workshop guy hand so strong?! Can dent your car bonnet?! But if u confirmed the dent was caused by them, u shld "confront" them when u collect the car. I have one friend when he sent his car for servicing, he checked before and after. And he found out a slight dent on his bonnet of his car, and the workshop "pacify" him by fixing the dent and spraying the whole bonnet for him. Car_Care Neutral Newbie December 1, 2010 Share December 1, 2010 Hi TS, I usually close bonnets the way your workshop guy does.. No issues so far..
Happily1986 5th Gear December 1, 2010 Share December 1, 2010 I thought the bonnet is usually quite heavy and strong? It is far stronger than my door panel thats for sure. Hmmm.
Mugen85 1st Gear December 1, 2010 Share December 1, 2010 the right way to close the bonnet is to drop it at a certain height and let gravity do the work.... pressing down the bonnet to close will cause dents...
Ckchong8 1st Gear December 1, 2010 Share December 1, 2010 Hi TS, I usually close bonnets the way your workshop guy does.. No issues so far.. Right time wrong places when using the press method but also depend what the car make there certain area you can't press otherwise the "dent" will show as it very soft. Darkblue 1st Gear December 1, 2010 Share December 1, 2010 (edited) Porsche bonnets are light when you drop, its only have "clock" sound, but its not shut. You still must push downwards lightly. Depending on make/model, most of the time I'll just drop and let it secure itself. Edited December 1, 2010 by Darkblue
Kiadaw 6th Gear December 1, 2010 Share December 1, 2010 I prefer to press down slowy then slam. Mine is aluminium hood, so using gavity is harder. ↡ Advertisement
