XALmoN Neutral Newbie December 25, 2010 Share December 25, 2010 i believe she should check with ICA, or something about this, i believe there is a minimum amount of time she has to spend as a PR

Sosaria Turbocharged December 25, 2010 Share December 25, 2010 I guess it's the same situation as when a singaporean man marries a foreigner wife, then applies PR for the wife. It always starts with PR first, right? Then followed by citizenship only later on. Anyway, if there's a divorce, would the wife keep PR status? Depends on the PR also, I guess. Most of the PRs are "professional" status, so it's job, not husband-dependent. For these PRs, if they don't have a job, their PR remains (I think), and what they lose is their re-entry permit (a document needed to leave the country and still retain PR status), which must be renewed. Essentially, they are locked in singapore until they find another job. Or if they choose to leave, they'll lose the PR.
Gabriel 1st Gear December 25, 2010 Author Share December 25, 2010 ic..but what is the husband is a 'professional' but the wife is not what if if she is juz holding a normal job and has no degree and PR was applied based on her husband's job can she retain her PR? and is re-entry permit . is it long term or short term? i am still a little confused by ur reply
Blackyv Turbocharged December 26, 2010 Share December 26, 2010 I know there is a type of pr is dependant on the main applicant... Something like if main husband pr cancel, the wife one also void.. Just like credit card, the sup card is tie to the main card holder.. Not too sure how their re-entry relationship thou.. But on the other hand, our normal pr will never expire, only the re-entry will need renewal when expire and to renew it, one must prove to have a job here... Do, best is still drop ica a call to ask in detail...

Gabriel 1st Gear December 26, 2010 Author Share December 26, 2010 ooh..but what if due to divorce ? and the husband is still in sg as PR ? kinda complicating rite ? and re-entry means what ? is it out of 5yrs must stay 3 yrs ? i am a bit confused on this term..re-entry
Gabriel 1st Gear December 26, 2010 Author Share December 26, 2010 will do so.. best to have black and white
Blackyv Turbocharged December 26, 2010 Share December 26, 2010 Ok... Pr is a status which had no expire date as long not not cancel or revoke.... One can stay in sg as long as they like but if this pr want to leave sg and come back again (leave mean go for holiday or business trip or whatever reason, leave the country) he needs to apply a re-entry permit...this re-entry permit allow this pr to re-enter sg (dont ask me why got such thing, ask ica....hehehe) Normally is 5yrs validity and need renewal when expire but last round, they gave me 10yrs validity..... Ladykillerz 4th Gear December 26, 2010 Share December 26, 2010 now PR renewal is only 5yrs duration. the mentioned hubby cannot do a thing. however, after the mentioned wife had her PR expired, she need to reapply. whether she will get a renewal or not, the application will depend on the govt. chance will be slim unless she re-married to a SG citizen. Gabriel 1st Gear December 26, 2010 Author Share December 26, 2010 wow...thnks for clarifying i read pages after pages... searching through google but could not understand but ur few lines made it very clear 1 more question..is re-entry permit based on education? muz the PR be a degree holder ? do you have any idea ? Gabriel 1st Gear December 26, 2010 Author Share December 26, 2010 hmmm... so if she marries a SG citizen her chances are higher ? what if the future hubby is not a degree holder? would it affect the chances? do you have any idea? ↡ Advertisement
