If SG will to buy J-31 from China, all SG pilots must pass "Chinese Mother Tongue" minimum 'B' grade to understand instruction in Mandarin .... :XD:

Never buy their direct translation "Han Yu Ping Yin" cos CMI .... [dizzy]

got google translate......where got difficult!

But in SG, F35 will be hit by "HAZE" ..... :a-m1524:

PSI of 300 will choke the vertical take-off vent of the F35 ... :a-bang:

:XD:         :XD:

Get the desert storm version.  Confirm no choke.

CNA 1 Nov -

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asiapacific/china-debuts-j-20-stealth-jet-in-show-of-strength-at-country-s/3251778.html

Two J-20 jets swept over dignitaries and hundreds of spectators and industry executives gathered at the show's opening ceremony in a 60-second flypast, generating a deafening roar that was met with gasps and applause and set off car alarms in a parking lot at the site."It is clearly a big step forward in Chinese combat capability," said Bradley Perrett of Aviation Week, a veteran China watcher.

Confirmed:

CNA - China to unveil its J-20 stealth fighter at Zhuhai air show this week.
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asiapacific/china-to-unveil-its-j-20-stealth-fighter-at-air-show/3243104.html

The J-20 will give a flight demonstration at next week's China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition in the southern city of Zhuhai, the People's Liberation Army Air Force said in a statement on its official microblog.

"This is the first public appearance of China's indigenously manufactured new generation stealth fighter jet," the air force said.

They catch up well. It doesnt matter whether they can innovate as their main objective now is to catch up.

Once they managed to do so, probably they will look at innovation engineering

A fly past is actually no big deal, it's the very basic requirement of an aeroplane after all and the first part of its product life. Many many parts need to follow.

Russian stealth jet did some amazing flying too, but it's known to be having alot of problems.

Same goes for the F35.

When it reaches operational service, that's when it earns its keep.

Exactly, the likes of F16, F15, C130 has been in service for so long and still can be improved.

Forget to add - This week J-20 demo may include opening of the bomb bay as one of the flypast segment.

Note in this early production version, the main-fuselage door edge are all jagged, including the bomb-bay door and what seems to be the inflight-refueling receptor directly behind the cockpit.

The stubby little winglets in front seem able to be retracted during supersonic or even high-speed flight, based on the slits behind it.

Internal weapons bay right?

No apparent guns visible hor?

The ’slits‘ is just the angle and shadow. Those canards are not meant to be retracted.

I think the design was copied from the 1982 movie Firefox.... This one capable of Mach 6!  [laugh]

LOL!...This isn't the 1st time the Hollywood invented "Mig-31" gets mentioned in this Thread. [:p]

That last was by Volvobrick

Yes, it does look a little like real-life Firefox with its canard and twin-engine/fins...but no it doesn't do M6 !.

Although having super-cruise ability is one of 5th gen fighter requirements that J-20 is intended to be.

Can anyone recognise this jet?

Those "little winglets" are canard - which are actually very powerful non-retractable forward control surfaces.

Eurofighter, Su-30, Gripen all uses the canards..in some cases, like the J-20 even uses it as air-brakes by having full down deflection during landing.

Cannon location remains unknown or ever seen early production, although some predicted it will be like F-22 along  the top sides fuselage and shrouded and flushed to retain the stealth quality.

My bet is if J-20 ever has an internal gun, very likely will follow current J-10 fighter using the Russian twin-barrel GSh-23.

Looks huge. Wonder how agile it is.

Hard to tell. This footage taken from that 60 sec flyby doesn't review much (why should they?)

But having to conduct in such high-profile manner on the 1st day of a major airshow itself is a testament the confidence given that China is usually very low profile with their latest equipment.

The jet maybe large, but is not lacking in the agility and clime rate department.

I wonder if the US parked one of its ships nearby and tried to track using its radar.....

maybe they even parked all their satellites on top of China....who knows!

Even if US spies setup a radar station next to Zhuhai airshow runway to gather J-20 intel will be useless since it is SOP for stealth jets to carry radar-reflectors to (a)hide its real RCS profile and (b) for air traffic safety.

I watched the footage from cctv feed and was awed with its agility albeit at slow speed. Despite its size and shape, it managed to change direction pretty swiftly and smoothly. The footage also showcased the expanded range of weaponry for the J10 and mentioned those could be deployed on the J20 as well.

I thought J20 is stealth bomber...how to mount sidewinder?

Whenever possible a given mission loadout, all weapons are stored internally for obvious reason.

That includes AAMs, which unlike bombs, usually can only be fired after the missile is outside the weapons bay.

That also means the stealth advantage will be compromised momentarily with the missile, launch rail extended outside, and bay doors wide opened....All acting like giant radar reflectors as the pilot try to acquire seeker lock.

AIM-9 extended from side weapon bays. F22 has 3 compartments for internal storage.
