really hope Coe will drop this round :( .. my last chance to decide to get a 2nd hand or new car ... depending on this coe :( .. need a car for work liao .. waited 4 months but cant wait anymore :(

is it the norm that the bids come in like last minute. notice that now only ~150 bids for Cat A/B with 3 hrs to go.

 

Yes...The bids usually comes in about 3pm.

The notion of taxi bids tipping the balance is but a perception from a spin. "System precision" will ensure that no drastic drop in prices will ever happen. What one can expect will be minor variations to the tune of 10-15%. The upward climb however is uncapped but demand and sensible pricing serve as effective checks to prevent runaway situations.

it really depends. if the quota never hit, sure drop to 1 buck de.

Do you really believe that there will be a time when the quota will never be reached? That will be the day when we can expect snow here. This is the illusion of fair play - a component of "system precision".

actually, its very simple to keep COEs low. every bidding session, show the lowest possible sum(or even the whole damn table) to secure COE. that way, people can just put enough without over bidding and driving the prices up.

The last COE Cat A was affected by the taxi coy it was rept and published in ST newspaper.

 

They came in with 300 over bids for the Cat A.

actually, its very simple to keep COEs low. every bidding session, show the lowest possible sum(or even the whole damn table) to secure COE. that way, people can just put enough without over bidding and driving the prices up.

 

The only proviso is that rational thinking must dominate for that to be successful. But we are living in an imperfect society with significant variations in factors that influence rational thinking....
