You will be giving away your personal data to the next owner. Be careful. Workshop receipts will contain ur name, contact number, car plate and maybe even your address.

 

Think again if you want to give away your service records.

It doesnt matter.

 

The agent workshops dont check the person who send in the car. They wont ask for your ID, they only ask for your contact so that when car is ready, they will call u to collect. And once u collect your car, they will issue receipt with the previous owner’s details.

SINGAPORE - A used car dealer found to have misrepresented the mileage of a vehicle it sold last year had been ordered by the court to buy it back and compensate the buyer.

But three months after the judgment, Performance Carz, which operates in Ubi Road 1, has not done so.

Best is to have a requirement to declare the authenticity of the mileage and to fully compensate if it has been tweaked 

Our consumer laws can be further improved upon

Interesting to know if misrepresentation of mileage is common in other countries

Can seize the assets but everything in there are probably pledged to the banks and or the  finance companies.

Make the owners and or company directors of the used car dealers which tampered with odometers personally liable and this nonsense will stop, it is outright fraud. No more hiding behind a private limited, lift the corporate veil.

I take it as this scenario- So long as LTA or relevant authority do not enforce it or rather the automobile industry is NOT REGULATE like Real estate agent, Life Insurance agent, Tour Guide or any other trades that requires a Sales personnel as middlemen and woman, the process of SE ( Sales Executive ) acting in between, all conduct will takes place eventually.

Something is not correct here as to why the car industry here do not requires used car dealer to be regulated, in doing so I believe LTA do not want to clean up the act, believing the industry has it's black and cats clawing one another. And the newspaper guys love to glamourise such and such car company run road after accepting deposit and failed to deliver car on time . . . blah blah blah !!

To Tamper the odometer will allow the used car to be sold faster, after being given one code of fresh pain, rectify some minor touch-up work and change some parts within their budget which is claimable in the lemon law.

Not to tamper would be to compromise such cars at a standstill hard to sell for at least 3-6 months, some even longer period rusting away, In honestly , no towkay will allow that to happen, so I expect some kind of " Magic work " to be performed by such " professional people in the car trade industry.

How do you expect anyone to share information about a 4 year old car with SMR number plate??? At least produce the original registration if you want information.
