Speaking to local media at the annual REACH Contributors Forum on Saturday, Mr Goh also wants Singaporeans to have a stake in the country beyond owning a home.

I feel more like a FT then a singaporean...

Wow, this is really a low blow to compare SG floods to a "TSUNAMI" affected flood in Japan.

SM Goh really needs to find new materials to make me feel more guilty about my current situation.

precisely , 1 small flood only also cannot handle while japan handle tusnamis, yet dare collect so high pay

and look at the way the ex health minister handle the initial outbreak of SARS? i think the Japanese ministers, with pay not as high as ours, can do a better job.

No offence to what he has said but I think there was no need to compare what has happened in Japan to the floods in SG. I see the Japanese govt taking responsibility and together with the people going about stoically trying to save lives rather than playing the blame game (which may change later). All this at a very modest salary.

We should in the spirit of humanity, be offering whatever support we can provide rather than make such inflammatory comments.

^^Precisely, if I am paying top dollar for these people to run a country with a small population, is protected from natural phenoms like earthquakes/tsunamis/volcanoes etc. and is only 710sqkm, I do expect superior performance especially against floods caused by heavy rains compared to devastation from 10m high tsunamis.

The comparison just does not hold water.
