In the midst of GE publicity on TV, my friend's Primary 2 son asked his parents:

"Dad, Mum .... Who is the Opposition?"

Before my friend could answer, his wife said:

"The Opposition are bad people who are trying to destroy Singapore!"

[shocked] [shocked]

It's ok.. If PAP continue ruling SG for the next 15yrs like how they do for the past 5yrs.. The kid will be like majority of 1st time voters now.. Educated and able to differentiate between black and white, good and evil..

If your friend happens to be part of the lower to middle class, and the son is sufficiently inquisitive, the son could also add:

"Dad, mum, why do I only have one brother/sister?"

"Dad, mum, why are we living in such a small place?"

I feel the same, why use the word 'oppositions' to describe other parties when they are actually just alternative voices to challenge the ruling party for the sake of the people and the country....... ???

By the way, here is Part 2 of the conversation.

The father asked the boy: " Boy-boy, do you sometimes quarrel with Kor-kor ?"

Boy: "Yes."

Father: "When you and Kor-kor quarrel, are you allowed to say something back to him?"

Boy: "Yes."

Father: "What if only Kor-kor can say things and you cannot say anything back?"

Boy: "So is Kor-kor the government?"
