Mona-vie 1st Gear May 26, 2011 Share May 26, 2011 Just now at Bishan. I was on the right lane. The lane can either turn right or go straight. Since I am going straight, I stop when the lights turn red. Cars turning right behind me high beam and horn.... I was like WTF, dont' they know how to see the arrows on the road? Or are they blind? Feel like getting out of the car and fug the driver behind me but forget it.... I don't want to act like some clown or hooligan. ↡ Advertisement

Best is just keep your cool and ignore them.
Jamesc Hypersonic May 26, 2011 Share May 26, 2011 (edited) Why do you think they horn at you? They thot the lane can only turn right? Or they thot you should have taken the middle lane and allow the cars turning right to proceed? Edited May 26, 2011 by Jamesc
Mona-vie 1st Gear May 26, 2011 Author Share May 26, 2011 Why do you think they horn at you? They thot the lane can only turn right? Or they thot you should have taken the middle lane and allow the cars turning right to proceed? There are 2 lanes for turning right. There is another right most lane solely meant for turning right. I was on right lane because I am going to turn right at next junction and traffic is heavy so I keep right ahead. If they think I should keep in the middle then should have at least highlight to LTA to redraw the arrows. I am just keeping to traffic rules. From your description, you weren't strictly in the wrong but personally if I am on a lane which can either turn right or go straight I would signal early before reaching the junction so cars who want to go straight have time to filter left if possible. I'd also try to keep to the right-most lane for right turning only if there is such a lane. As long as I've done all these my conscience is clear. For me, too used to it already. Lots of impatient drivers around, no point getting worked up over them. As long as you know you're not wrong, take it that they are the stupid ones

If turning right on going straight/turning right lane.... please for goodness sake SIGNAL. Not saying TS did it or not... but I hate mofos who suddenly stop without signalling. Sometimes when I am super irritated, where I suddenly need to change lanes because of such mofos, I'd give a loud long horn, and sometimes the finger, when I pass them on the left. I mean, is it so difficult to signal when turning?

If I signal left wouldnt that be telling the person behind I gotten on the wrong lane so have to change lane (when its not the case here)?
Bicolor 5th Gear May 26, 2011 Share May 26, 2011 Yar, I was trying to tell myself just forget about it...... Was damm pissed off just now. Thanks now feeling better. This won't be the first time, it will probably happen again. But after a few times you will be immune to such antics and laugh it off. From day one I have been used to people honking from behind even when I signalled early and in the correct lane, or stopped at the amber light instead of rushing through. But I know the feeling because at first I used to hate people who turn together with me, cannot stay in their lane and swerve into my lane and yet horn me as though it was my fault. Never got to the extent of shouting vulgarities or physical violence, but in the beginning there were one or two occasions where I got hot enough to chase up to them and wag a finger at them or give them a disgusted shake of the head. But after 4 or 5 times I found it no longer bothered me and I can only laugh at them
Weewee1976 3rd Gear May 26, 2011 Share May 26, 2011 Next time, please be more considerate and take the go straight only lane. Leave the go straight or turn right lane for vehicles turning right.

If I signal left wouldnt that be telling the person behind I gotten on the wrong lane so have to change lane (when its not the case here)? No need to signal when going straight But everyone should signal right, and that not only when coming to the junction but well before. If you did signal then the driver behind should keep a safe distance or filter left when possible, whether there is only one or two lanes to turn right. Unfortunately a big number of people don't signal like this. Cannot count how many people signal only upon reaching the junction, or worse still, come to a stop on the lane but with no signal at all! Have long learned never to assume that the person behind is going to go straight.

When you are driving on the highway and these idiot impatient drivers try to overtake you, do you drive slower as well and slow them down? Yes, I am wondering to to signal that I am going straight and not turning. Seriously I have no idea even after driving for several years. ↡ Advertisement
