Relagsingh 4th Gear July 18, 2011 Share July 18, 2011 Good day, Any bro or sis know what went wrong? Need new gear box? Where to repair? On 1st gear need to release almost fully before car start to move. Probably its just the clutch. A stick shift box is quite hardy. Oil change done only at 80 to 120k km intervals. The synchros and diffs can only break if it's driven by someone who doesn't know to shift or the car's job is only for racing.
Ithunk 1st Gear July 18, 2011 Share July 18, 2011 (edited) ya u have to be more detailed....u are able to catch the clutch rite? becos from what i can gather if yr car does not stall when u purposely lift off the clutch then its time to change the clutch and that the biting point is supposed to be low and not high driving manual is totally diff from driving auto man Edited July 18, 2011 by Ithunk

I noticed my manual like not very "responsive" at the biting point; like not much "bite". Get jerks after releasing it. Can be very irritating to drive at times. Can't wait until release clutch and car never stall to find out.. cos that would be too late. Any tell tale signs?
Rosschang 1st Gear July 18, 2011 Share July 18, 2011 most likely clutch wearing out lo... no longer "Bite" liao, judging from the lack of details you have given.
Ithunk 1st Gear July 18, 2011 Share July 18, 2011 (edited) wah that one u must really ask the mechanic....becos i think this is subjective....the driving position matters alot btw this info is what i gathered from the internet maybe can go to khangs for queries or something btw most mechanics can really drive a manual Edited July 18, 2011 by Ithunk
Jchuacl Clutched July 18, 2011 Share July 18, 2011 Should be every 20-30k. This is the neglected part that people don't take care. Probably its just the clutch. A stick shift box is quite hardy. MLS Clutched July 18, 2011 Share July 18, 2011 most likely clutch wearing out lo... no longer "Bite" liao, judging from the lack of details you have given. It's happening at gear 1. When I move off, I feel that it does not "bite" well. But gear 2 onwards, it feels fine. Read online that it's very troublesome to change the clutch. But not sure how much it costs. Oh ya, the chia also like bo lark.. probably cannot expect too much for a 5 year old GLX.

Jchuacl Clutched July 18, 2011 Share July 18, 2011 Transmission oil. If you see that your revs are going up but your car is not moving, then it does sound like your clutch needs to be replaced. Oil change meaning engine oil?
