the charges is about a thousand dollars each visit, plus medication about two over thousand.

joking. about a hundred to two but there was years back when mcf wasnt even formed.

my own case was also prolong and recurring lower back pain to the point whole week cannot get up bed, cannot have sex for half year, and no doctors could help. then when i went to him base on recommendation, i almost turned back when i reached there. at 8am there were like almost 100 people queuing liao. during the wait, i overheard patients from korea, japan , hongkong came here just to seee him. when i walked into his clinic even before i sit down, he could tell me what are the likely cause liao. and after diagnosis and x-ray, he was right. after a few visits, i was making hot love again and never went back. after that, a few of my friends with similiar problems, whom i recommended them to , they were cured also.

good luck !

Since he is a western doctor and took x-ray to diagonse, why was he able to solve your problem when others can't? i presume you would have visted a orthopedic specialist for your problem before him?

Many causes of the lower back pain. For instance, I am suffering from Sciatica pain for almost 2 years.

The symptom is only one leg, the lower back downwards and sometimes the feet will go numb. I need to take a break after a long walk, sit down or bend down. And the pain is unbearable.

Tell you what I did. I went for a 12 X courses of the Physiotherapy, it won't heal and don't feel any better. So I went to seek for TCM and did around 10 X of acupuncture and some Tuina, it does relieved but it just came back again.

So I was thinking, better go do a MRI ( Mt Alvernia ) to see what's the nerve that cause the pain. And after the MRI, was told that the L4 or L5 something like that is "tickling " my Sciatica nerve, recommend me to go for Chiropractor and I did went for 6 courses.

After all this, No recovery and this time I did some stretching myself after doing some research from the internet. Do it everyday, endure the stretch and pain, now I can't say it completely recovered, but am feeling much better at least my feet is not numb anymore.

* MRI and all these therapy can by very costly, so try D.I.Y and do some excercise. Hope this help and hope you recover fast!!!

My 0.02 C

How are u recovering?

I have similar symptoms. Walk 1-2 Km, I get hip pain. Pain goes away once I sit down. Going on for 1.5 years. Started seeing physio once a month five months back, mainly teaching stretching and core strengthening exercises. Slightly better but still have bad days. Went for mri last month doc say L4L5 spinal stenosis. Say can operate, recommend me decompression with dynamic spacer.

Anyone know of a good doc for this?

My idea is just go for physio, try to prolong the symptoms as Long as possible. I just 43 so don’t want to operate so young.

Went chiro, x rays show spine not in perfect shape, coe reaching la.

Recommend package about 6k. Too exp la..

Suppose to gradually adjust it back to shape over time.

I somewhat don’t have much faith in them chiro’s...talk here and there so much press here and there ... just go polyclinic and get ortho or sports medicine clinic appt and get and MRI done and then see what’s next , I know the MRI at CGH or NTF is agak agak $370-$420 depending on the scope or area and you get a foolproof idea of what’s going on exactly if it’s an nerve impingement or likely discs got no juice bone degeneration ( in my case L2,,L3, L4 ) messed up prolapse disc (PID) and see physio to do certain excercises ; maybe @lala81 can share more info

But I still Kenna like twice a year still but have learnt to live with it

If your physio already recommended core strenthening exercises, then you should continue doing them at home not just at the clinic. It needs to be long term, not a few sessions. Don't believe me, ask @Tianmo.

I do everyday. The session is just to check on progress.

Doing it for 4 months.

I started jogging 4km every other day 30mins, slow jog. Started vor 2 weeks.

Last time I am totally pain free if I dont walk long distance. Now got slight back ache even when sitting down. Not sure if because of jogging.

Spinal disc degeneration due to compression of the disc happens when you have heavy load,i.e your body weight,  and weakening of muslce group that supporting your skeletal system over the years of your life.

What I learnt from my own slip disc for  30 years

1. Lower your body weight,

2. Strengthen your core, and posterior chain muscle group. Most physio therapist seem to miss out posterior chain muscle group, but after I began google research on running, I find strengthening these group of muscle helps in keeping your form straight. and especially the glute, which directly strengthen the back muscle.

3. Minimize staying in a position that cause compression of spine, i,e don't sit for too long. Stand as much time as or more than your sit in the office. or lie down or hang from a chin up bar for decompression.

Don't really need chiro or TCM. But useful for pain management in the beginning stage. But after you built your muscle, there should very little or no pain to manage, don't really need them then,

Expect to change your lifestyle to a moderately intense active lifestyle. No magic pills or healers for being sedentary and yet minimize the chronic ills of aging.

Possible... See if you remove running and concentrate of callisthenic exercises will it improve.  Can add joggin back once you have build a stronger muscle.

Thx for the advice. I have bird dog exercise in my daily routine. I find planking helps a lot but I need to get the form right.

Anyway maybe this is a timely wakeup call. I was too sedentary for many years. Need to start to train up a bit after 40...

Thanks to @roadrunner2029, now I am quite fan of this programme. Although they employ some scare tactics and hoa siao example, but sometime I agree that these methods works best for most.

At 6:10, I think they doing a quick way of measuring how bad is the disc degeneration. I still have four fingers spacing apart, having skinny fingers helps. [laugh]  [laugh]

Building the core is the only way forward, and will definitely take time to. ^_^

Yes, carry on building up your core, but be sure to do it with the correct form.

The human body will always be looking for ways to balance itself, when one area is hurt and if you dont fix it, the body will mobilize the closest muscle grp to assist, and as time pass, the weaker grp gets weaker and then it will be too late.

Always train with good form, our problems started with daily bad forms, so now is the time to get it corrected. If you particle good form training, you will feel better as you get stronger.

jogging actually help if you are landing forefoot, but if you are landing heel first, it will make your lower back more painful at night.  Check your foot landing position.

When we walk, 95% of us land on our heels, try to land softer with smaller steps and walk a little slower. These will reduce impact when heel lands, and try to  get thicker, softer cushioning shoes with good insoles for walking.

These are personal experience, and so far I am getting on ok with life.. [laugh]  [laugh]  [laugh]

As far as possible, dont ops. Your body will never be the same once open up and sew back. However, if really have to do it, get it done as young as possible, because as we age, our rate of recovery slows down, and our chances of a full recovery gets discounted every year we age.  Take that into consideration.

I was referred to Physio for my LBP.

She gave me heat treatment blanket and electrical therapy, but also showed me some exercises because she said I needed to build my core strength.

I told her the exercises she was giving me must be for 90 year old people because I found them so easy to do with no exertion.

She was surprised but wouldn't give me any tougher core improvement exercise because she said I was at maximum.

Well electric therapy was useless, heat blanket was useless and core strengthening was useless.

In fact the physio I found useless.

Anyway above I see that WIND 30 said he had MRI for LBP.

Can he say how much that cost.

WIND 30 also said the MRI referred him to Chiropractor which I found very strange as proper medical back pain specialists will never refer to chiro as they consider them charlatans and dangerous for back pain.

Just saying.

Anyway my LBP cleared up by itself after 8 months, although it was verynpainful during that time.  I carried on my Cross Trainer and Stepper regime all through..

I did not really have lower back pain. More like leg pain but is related to spine.

I also did not chiro, just physio. The MRI was 1k plus.

This is the same as mine. The disc pressing on the nerve.

Same age and same problem. L4 and L5 pressing on the nerve.

Days when the pain occurred, I just do some stretching exercise recommended by a ortho doctor, take Celebrex pain killer and stick a Chinese plaster. It will go away after 2-3 days.

Oh and I do planking more often nowadays.
