Unless you going track or something, most of the time don't have to do alignment as the side slip is tested every 2 years (3 for new cars) during your inspection.

 

You may want to check your alignment when you feel the steering is "pulling" towards one side by more than 5-10 degrees or when you have uneven tyre wear.
