Sorry do not get what you mean.

Though my stock rim is 15 inches, I changed it to 17 inches e moment it with me.

So powerful or not, it quite e same for me.

Am more concern on e grip of it and too believes getting e right tyre pressure will increase e life-span of e tyres.

maybe he meant loses abit power in pick up ba..coz 15-17 ma..so maybe weaker and slower pick up compare if your stock is 15"..

Hi,

My car is a mazda 3 running CSC 3, currently running 38 PSI on nitrogen all round. Any Comments on this settings?

Should it be higher pressure on the front given the weight of the engine to maximise grip and tyre life?

Have pushed it to 40 PSI, seems lighter on the petrol, throttle and $$ haha

Sidewall for this tyre is a bit soft, you can try 240/230 for a start.

ya, I heard that e side-wall of this tyres are soft too.

So increase e tyres pressue will help 'harden'/stengthen e side wall?

I pump 270 for all 4 tires.

hhmm 270? Sound alot from what recommended.

Not doubting your knowledge on this just 'shocked' as do not know it should be so much than expected.

To reduce flex. That pressure is used by the R which is originally on 17, so should be ok. You can plus minus a bit from there but not too much.

Tyre pressure is affected by your car weight and travelling speed.

Its not affected by tyre size/profile.

What happens is only you need more or less air to achieve the desired pressure.

It does make sense but there will always be a trade off in both ways.

Changing from 15 inches to 17 inches does caused a increase in fuel consumption n maybe slower pick up...

But it somehow improve e gripping for e car as more rubber on e ground.

Mine is not a super fast car so do not think will affect much on e pick-up (at least for me) :p

Am more concern about keeping a longer life-span for my new tyres now by apply e correct/ideal tyres pressure.

Guys then what about those nitrogen filled tyres? Can still go petrol station and pump? Or must go back to workshop to refill?

Heard nitrogen is better but again if not wrong, it is highly recommended not to mix with 'normal' air (those from petrol station).

For me, i find it very troublesome n somehow costly to maintain as i know it not free rite to top up w nitrogen thou it is a monthly refilling if not wrong.

eh..whether bigger size rim have more gripping wise i not sure..to me bigger rims look nice though..haha..

but for gripping i feel is the width of your tyre profile ba..let say from 185/60/15 to 205/45/16..

for the 16" one i feel there are more contact to the ground compare 205 vs 185 ma..being wider in 205 at least you have more contact and grip on the road..

but then again depends on the rubber you using too..

I have GR-90 tyres running with this exact profile. (225 x 45 x 17).

Pump 250 all round.

Re-pump about once a month. i notice it would have settle at 232 thereabouts when i re-pump.

Actually, the sticker on your car is just a guideline. Some tyres performs better with more pressure, other may be less etc... It also depends on road conditions and weather etc...Even weight and speed also plays a part.

Thus you would have to experience a little to find the best for your car.

Eg for me, manufacturer recommends just 210Kpa for my front. But I find it way too soft and sluggish. My tyres perform best at around 235. Anything above 250 is too hard.

Then probably u'll need more hardcore BS tyres to suit your car.

Considering the RE-11 or S-001,Bridgestone got too many models, very confused.
