How come RON92-93 is "premium gas" in the US, but not here?

Premium gas, which usually has an octane level of 92 or 93 (compared with regular's octane level of 87), is designed to prevent knock on cars with high compression ratios.

FYI, USA is not using RON rating. Their 87 is equivalent to our RON92. 93 is equivalent to RON98.

In USA, they don't use RON like in Asia or Europe. They use Octane rating.

Octane rating is the average of RON and MON.

 

RON = research octane number

MON= Motor octane number

 

Their octane number 92 is about the same as our RON 98

i heard if ur car compression ratio is high ( > 10) is recommended to use ron 97 and above

if below den nvm...

want cheap -> RON92.

want smooth, performance, less engine noise, etc -> RON98 and above.
