IMHO :

Camera The Megapixel is some 5MP very clear but is there really a need? It is not like taking a gal photo?

Depends on lens. Generally, HD recording is preferred.

Angle of View : The bigger the better right?

The bigger = fish eye. So far I find abt 120 degrees is the best compromise.

G-sensor Does it mean that it will only start recording when a sudden impact is experienced?

Nope, it emasures the G-forces in X,Y and Z axis in a graph. So if u see one axis more disturbance in the graph, means impact comes from that direction thus proving the video shown is same as G-sensor data.

Some car cam will automatically save high G-sensor footage to a part of ur SD card. This is for ur safe-keeping and accident submission. The sensitivity of the G-sensor can be set so that not every little G-sensor movement is saved.

GPS Built-in Is it a necessity?

Depends on one's requirement. Good to have on a track or tracking where u had travelled, not good if for accident submission to TP or insurance if it shows over the road's speed limit.

IR LED is the more the better is the night vision

Of cos more better lah. But there is a limit to how much more until it totally blinds the lens due to reflective nature of the windscreen. There is also a distance limit to how far the IR LED can illuminate.

Other funtions to look out for :

- date n time stamping

- GPS stamping

- HD recording or interpolation

- FPS = frames per second

- physical size n compact factor

- LCD screen

- EV, contrast, white balance, etc adjustability

- recording time adjustability

- parking/surveillance mode

- motion detection

- max capacity of SD card

- microphone mute function

- ease of use

- for some 5V vs 12V operation

- video file type created, AVI, MOV, MP4

- type of mounts for car cam

- internal battery type and capacity

Thatz all I can think of. Too much to consider??? [laugh]
