MRT faults: Real action needed

Letter from Prem Singh

Maybe it is time to ask that a Government committee, comprising a spectrum of knowledgeable individuals, be set up to actually look into the feasibility of nationalising our public transport.

Too many things have gone wrong this year with our Mass Rapid Transit system.

I dislike the way the announcement content they make... can't they be more 'honest' and let the commuter in the train know exaactly what happen [confused] ... instead of always saying 'technical fault'.

Why do you like to post topics related to pubic....err.....opps....I mean public transport.

This is a car forum....the main reason(s) why ppl or Sinkie own cars is that they have given up on the public transport system...

Or else they wouldn't have to slough so hard for money to pay to own cars , right?

If you frequently find yourself posting wrong subject content in regard to your intended audience...

Then perphaps you have gone to the wrong forum or mistaken ppl here care a shxt about what happens to the public transport issues.

If No porn Liu happens to read this, he should consider selling his own car and those of his other members of his family too! :D

If our public transport system is up to scratch or efficient / userfriendly, some car owners here may switch to trains/buses for the bulk of their travel, thats why good to keep in touch with the siuation of the public transport :D By right both private / public transport should serve the people and compliment each other.

people running the shop are just bean counters who are concerned about bottomline.

crowding issue still has not been addressed with opening of new platform at Jurong East and full Circle Line, trains and platforms still overcrowded during peak hours.

safety and maintenance continues to be compromised.

The more practical approach would be the replace the SMRT management and outsource the task to MTR.

Waste of time monitoring. Might as well just go over to Hong Kong or Taiwan and see how they do it.

It's obvious current no of trains cannot cope with the ride capacity. The structure of the organization prevents it from being service oriented, it's currently profit oriented. What ever decision made has to answer to board of directors so that their share of the pie only gets bigger not smaller. Nationalising the train company is not as bad as the ministers put it cos HK & Taiwan train company dun seem to be doing that bad at all. The results shows for itself dun have to tell ppl what's no good for them.

Wow yours is the silver bullet that MOT, LTA & PTC have been searching for all these years!

[thumbsup]

If only you have mentioned this BEFORE the last GE then Lemon might still keep his job...

But seriously your idea is worth considering by these blokes.

Go study how others do it before saying "No lah, cannot!"

Or mumbling trains not crowded but whether people choose to board or not.

Geezzz...

how is it possible that they do not know the situation and problems?

They are scholars ya?

.. just that they choose to ignore it and stick to their party's direction.

GDP over GNH.

so stop saying they dun know our problem..thats not true.

They know our problem. They always knew. They just choose to ignore it.. as we Singaporeans suckers will still vote for them no matter what happens.
