You got the point. You are right. Let us hope these 60%+ get more matured before the next GE.

you need to make sure that there are more mature Opposition in other wards for that to happen.

HP is famous for such slavery of contract workers without full benefits.

If you go and do a headcount there, probably majority are FTs, it used to be the model employer in the 80s, 90s...

Finally! It is a huge MYTH that so-called foreign talent are cheaper to hire than locals.

As the letter-writer says, the salaries offered are actually not to be sniffed at... and the only reason these foreigners were offered employment is because of bias!

I believe that is not the only company with the truth. Example: a brother of mine worked in one such company for a year. The company evolved into a FT/FW company over a period of about a year, with my brother being the only local employee. At the last and current projects I am involved, I am among the skeleton locals, it is almost all foreigners only. Lip service by Minister?

I believe more practical to study these non-ruling parties' agenda. How to make the ruling party works for us?

You got the point. You are right. Example: I had asked a contractor why he employed less prodctive FW, instead of locals. He replied that he did not want to up-set the market (his 12 X SGD1200/- per month FW = SGD14,400/- month, yet he would not want to hire a local for half that budget). Months later, he approached to sounded me out about joining his company with my expertise to train his 12 FW, who can not cope with work usually performed by one local (we used to multi-tasking). Most FT are specialist who knows next to nothing about their construction job.

Need to ask oneself these questions and one will know the sincerity of what the MIW mouth piece ..Tan J C really is...

1) when these rampant practices of FT companies hiring FTs with bias to Sinkies..why didn't the MIWs take action and nip such practices in the bud or at least control such practices with policies?

2) Is it becos of the recent election results that Sinkie are now seeing what sort of 'new' wayang the MIWs are acting out?

3) If it was not due to the election result and all these new policies are the 'long term planning and management need' then why the sudden need to do all these in a hurry when the MIWs were laying or sitting on these issues for so long? So are these new actions simply for real or plainly lip service?

4) Was there even any 'voice of conscience' in the ruling party, that when they were pocketing huge pay checks and enjoying the rewards thru their GDP growth policies, to realise that the ordinary Sinkie are hard hit simply becos it seem like the ruling gov 'NO LONGER CARE' whether they live or die thru all these changes happening in the employment landscape?

Wise men says...when one did care...they do not need any awakening to stir their conscience to do so.

If one did need such stirring, it is becos one really didn't care and in reality could not care less even if they were forced to act as though they MUST show some care! :D
