Yes. TCM net(including parts, labour, GST) = $222. Autosaver net (including parts, labour, GST) = $322

Then you did the right thing by going with TCM.

My car stalled this morning while driving. Lucky no accident.

Drove to Autosaver , quoted me $322 for the repair. Called TCM, quoted me $222 come with warranty of 1 yr or 20k km for the part that was replaced.. Difference $100. Well in the end, drove to TCM and did the repair.

I always thought AD will cost more than outside workshop. But it seems not true.

If TCM quote you $100 cheaper of cuz the choice would be TCM.

Ever called TCM regarding a loose tachometer needle, wanted to charge $65/hr or $300+ per day to diagnose. [knife]

this is rediculous. $300 for troubleshooting? just a waste of time.

2nd Gear

Just got my car serviced at Defu. I think they "forgot" to rotate my tyres. Car bonnet was left with black finger prints. Don't think I will go back there again.

Another WS that I can recommend is at upper Thomson road, caltex station. Small but humble WS. Labour is very reasonable and no bs from them.

I'm been using them for a long time. Yesterday was the only time I didn't go back to them coz it's 80k KM. Thought I better go to a bigger WS for more complete servicing.

In my normal 10k KM servicing, I'm at that caltex station ( together with shell and ESSO stations)

Bring my own oil and whatever, they just charge labour. [:p]

there are a few caltex at that road. can you let us know the address?

This one is side by side with shell and ESSO, together. All in one row. Lower pierce reservior

AD will give complimentary car wash that's why no finger print marks. [sly]

After one incident, I requested for mine not to be washed. [mad]

The good thing about ADs is that when they take in the car, they will mark the defects like dents/scratches on the checklist.

Most outside workshops dont and when a new "scar" is created, they will push the responsibility to you.

I kena that stunt by a so called "reputable" detailer in Ubi/Kaki Bukit area. [furious]

You referring to the one near Sembawang Hills Estate?

There is a nearby hawker centre?

thats how AD earn mah...... if not, how to pay for the big rental space, labour, equipment, $$ into mgt pockets?

so far as possible, avoid ADs unless it's a very last resort measure.

Neutral Newbie
(edited)

AS not really that good (in my opinion)

I went to Wlds AS afew mths back, the service guys dont seem to know the correct part to replace & also given me a wrong advise ?

Maybe they dont specialise in a particular model ( they service several models, makes...)

Luckily i went check & ask other WS. KM, also confirmed their advise is wrong

plus their (AS) customer service suxs, like i owe them big time

They forget that a "dissatisfied" customer will never walk into the same workshop a second time

In the end I went back KM, service adviser is gd & they really know their stuff

price wise is almost the same (at least i feel i am a customer)

My advise, go do your own homework, know your own car parts/ part numbers/ pricing, shop around & ask for advise

I am sure there are better ones

i think its very subjective. there is no best workshop anywhere. to each of his own likes. some people find it good while some think is so so and some find it no good.
