But I don't know who did the QA part...

The Iranian are sure one happy-burger. Priceless! [laugh]

in the first picture, the rc plane looks Kim Kim leh [laugh]:D[laugh] Dont look like crash leh [grin]

Maybe someone supplied the iranians with a special 1000 channel remote controller to take over the rc plane once it enter into their strong signal zone [grin]

Yeah, at first the US claimed a malfunction and thought that there was no way this drone flying at high altitude could be brought down in one piece. Or at least they hoped that the iranians shot it down - then at least it'd also be in little unrecognisable pieces.

What a surprise that the drone is actually intact, and appears to be in good condition! I think russia and china will be bidding for it very, very soon...

The commands used to control the plane is definitely encrypted, together with the video stream, so it's not possile a random remote control can take over the planes like what those recreational RC pilots are using. But if the plane is indeed captured intact, it is highly possible that all the ciphers in the US UAV inventory are compromised.

Most likely the Iranians jammed the signals, preventing plane from receiving the signals. With such a large desert area, most likely the plane glided down after running out of fuel.

The plane lacks the standard US markings, doubt all the sensitive electronics are in the plane.

This is stealth drone... You want to put markings so you can declare to the world what it is and where it is from... [laugh]

Uhmmm... Glided down? You play remote control planes, drones or helicopters... If run out of fuel it is crash down, don't forget the height which the drone should be flying at, it would not be intact if it crashed.

This is not the first time liao.

1960, a CIA-operated U-2 was shotdown and its pilot, Gary Powers, was captured by Russian when spying over USSR.

US tried to cover this up but Russian paraded the plane and pilot publicly.

The Russians returned the U-2 wreackage and release the pilot years later.

2001, a USN EP-3 collided with a PLA J-8 and forced to land in Hainan Island.

All crews were released and the plane returned to US 3 months later...in pieces.

The US had to paid China US$34,000 for their crew lodging and delivery of the plane parts from China. [:p]

Just my speculation, UAVs do not fly as fast as a fighter jet, it is possible that a helicopter or other aircrafts are used to chase the UVA and capture it using nets?

When the U2 was shot down, the Russians had been monitoring it's flight path for days and knowing that they can never hit the plane, the AA operator just fired the SAM on hunch and got it. Similiarly during the first Gulf War, the F-117s are not trackable on Iraqi radars but were fired upon when they reached the capital. The Iraqis had calculated the time the aircraft took to reach the capital and fired blindly, hoping to knock one down. When the F-117s diverted, at the calculated time, the Iraqis are still firing in anticipating that the aircrafts are coming in. So I believe that the Irianians have been monitoring the aircraft and it's flight path for some time and with foreign help (could be China or Russia), they managed to net the UAV.

They do put on their markings while in operations. Even without markings, the suspects to whom the operators are can be narrowed down, can even count with your fingers.
