you are referring to Provisional Driving License (PDL) right?  or is she overseas?

now the fun begins.

my 19 year old girl got her class 3 licence a few months back.

We're currently in NZ, 

So her "learners" license here. 
Is a written test that allows you to start learning to drive
She's 16. 

In 6 months she will be sitting for her "restricted" (provisional) license.  This is when she proves she knows how to drive 

Last night we were doing circuits of the carpark in the local sports stadium

As a father, it's your duty to ensure your daughter is properly educated on the rubrics of driving. Namely heel-toe, handbrake turns and introductory hooning. 😁

How come EV no gearbox or clutch? I tot a torque convertor can save energy. 

I not into EV, perhaps they no need such components already can save energy, and component costs as well.
