Gay shoes with gay strap on cheap watch:

idk how you do it bro ... i have 2 watches and i find it a hassle to change every now and then. i just wear for extended periods then switch to the other to cycle them. perhaps i cant appreciate watches like you ... i have a breitling (skyracer iirc) which i used to use as my daily watch till i got a vacheron ... now i use the vacheron and use the breitling for travel, swimming etc. sadly, i have not maintained the breitling well (i got it in 2007) but the bracelet is scratched up. both watches are also sadly identical ... both are steel with steel strap, except the breitling has a grey face and the vacheron has a black face.

(on a side note ... the vacheron doesnt have as good build quality as the breitling ... within the first 6 months of ownership .. one of the buttons popped out completely ... spring and all ... and the service centre took nearly a month to fix ... even though it was under warranty)

Depends on wife's mood mostly.

If she feels like the Merc, I'll drive the other car.

Is it an Eclass?

I recall you were driving 320? And Saab?

Looks like with age, we all move to Mercy ha

But you still young and without kids right?

I think I'm the one with the inability to appreciate watches.

It's less than $100! Heck, the straps cost more than the watch, haha.

Leagues away from your Breitling and VC.

Yes, it's an ah pek taxi E class. Gets the job done in most situations. Parents getting older, not young and not without kids.

Actually, I had a Merc before the 320. Mercs have this inherent refined quality about them, which as I grow older, became high on the priority list.

In the Saab days, I also had a 7-seater, so it was ok. Now that the 7 seater is gone, a large-ish sedan is necessary to compliment its replacement (a hatch).

I miss the Saab sometimes during cooler days...

i paid for the breitling with money i saved ... someone gave me a good deal on it, before that i was wearing a very basic tag heuer. vacheron was a gift from my dad ... it was a nice surprise, but sometimes i feel i have to wear it otherwise itll just be sitting in my drawer gathering dust. thankfully, my dad didnt buy a different colour since im too lazy to coordinate my watches...

well, the fact that you bother to change straps and coordinate means you care a lot more than i do :D

(also, im going to guess thats an eclass... from the ash tray lol) but i could be wrong :P

ah, so you go to Bernard (olde Cuban) the manager is Kelvin, used to be from Connoisuer Divan.

go to either La Casa De Cubana (Jimmy) at the regent hotel or Connoisuer Divan at UE sq, they should have the Upmann RR

currently quite popular so may be sold out, but am sure they carry it

next time we ever meet up for a smoke together, i will let you try a 60 ring gauge maduro wrapped custom roll Robusto Gordo

60 gauge is humongous!

I'll hold you to that if we ever meet.

OK, no more OT...

The one and only watch my parents ever gave me was a Mickey Mouse watch when I was in primary 1. I think I used it for a year before it broke down.

The next watch I owned was when I was in the army. It was a Swatch that I bought with my meagre army pay. That lasted me quite a few years actually.

I wore it til a few years after I started working, which was when I bought my first "proper" watch, which is a Tag Heuer Monaco, which I still have today. I remember the day clearly, thinking to myself "am I crazy to be blowing so much money on a watch?".

I guess maybe that's why I wear a cheap watch almost daily now, haha...

Seriously, the strap change takes literally 10 secs, as the straps are NATO straps. 10 secs to me is worth the time to display a little consideration into the presentation of myself.

But your watches seem to go with everything, so it's really not necessary anyway. Metal watch bands are most versatile.

Yup, that's an E class. Luckily no one has tried to flag me down yet, haha...

haha .. i feel you bro. im not shy to admit - my first tag heuer was a used one. so what .. it served its purpose well and for the price i paid .. cant go wrong .. i must be too lazy then lah ... the only time i bother to dress up is for work, since i have to meet a lot of people in my job.

i remember the first watch my folks got me ... casio with telephone book function .. so i could record down all my family numbers when i was a kid!

i think my dad realized if he bought too unique a watch, ill be too lazy to figure out how to wear it. well, since im quite new to this .. how exactly does one maintain these kinds of watches? any suggestions? the one i dont wear, i keep in a small ziploc bag ... and then switch back and forth ><

You can simply buy a watch box. They come in different sizes from individual to stacks. You can also buy them with winders.

Look here.

Me, personally, I hate having to open and close a lid and putting my watches on cushions. I like just chucking them on a flat surface and picking them up easily without any hassle. I also enjoy winding my watches and setting the time/date, so I'm not into watch winders.

What i did was, I had 2 trays made for me. They are like the type you see in jewellry stores. The frame is leather wrapped while the tray top is suede lined.

This way, I don't have to worry about scratching my watches when I chuck them on the trays and there's no need to go through some troublesome process just to put them down or pick them up.

Of course, try to keep your watches in a place where the humidity is low. A well made watch is pretty hardy. There's really no need to baby them too much unless you really want to keep them in mint condition cosmetically.

Be gentle when winding your watches. I've broken movements by winding them to quickly. The repair bills ain't funny.

Just interested to know. Where do you change your watch's battery when it's flat? Do you go back to the service center or just any shop that sell watches?

Asking because I just changed mine at the shop which I bought my watch from but in the process of changing it, the chronograph needle(for stop watch function, not sure if I used the correct term) is unable to reset back to 0 [bigcry] . Shop accused me that it is already faulty before they change it. Didn't argue much with them because there will be no end and I have no proof to support myself as the battery is already flat. Just don't like their attitude. End of rant.

By the way my watch is cheap (Casio Edifice EF521SP-Black, expensive for me) compared to what you guys are wearing but still... [furious] Any advise? Service center or watch sellers?

usually for basic quartz, it will be fine to have the battery replaced at most neighborhood shops.

there is no reason for the chronohand to malfunction if it's a simple battery replacement becos , it's just removing the back case and popping in a new batt. Unless of course, the movement was unknowlingly tampered with.

going to the agent service center would hopefully reduce the chances of you having to face poor attitude

I see. Thanks now thinking whether to bring it for repairs or just leave it since I seldom use the stop watch function.
