Unusual or Rare Cars

The Citroen C6... I was very fond of this model when it came out. In its heyday, even DPM Jayakumar drove one. There're hardly any left on our roads now. The French ambassador to Singapore used one as his official car (S2001CD) but now it's been changed to a relatively tame Peugeot 508.

I wonder if anyone here has driven or sat in one before. Being the top of the Citroen line then, I can expect a very very plush ride that they are known for. Is the C6 on pneumatic suspension aka magic carpet ride?

C6 is super nice. Used prices were pretty decent too. But I wouldn't want to own one without a warranty. Suspension picha sure mati

Ya. When I viewed the C5, I asked the SE for cost of repair or replacement AFTER the warranty period. He just smiled sheepishly and said "very expensive" haha

Yes they are running on hydropneumatic suspension.

This one is not available in Singapore and is rare even in France. Only a few hundreds have been built thus far and there is a 14 month waiting list to get yours, starting with a tempting S$3000 deposit. The car price varies between 75 to S$100k depending on options and trim, quite a good price compared to a Porsche Caiman.

The best part is that car is the demo car from the La Rochelle dealership, one of the few places where you can test drive the car. La Rochelle is one cool place on the west coast of France with a great history and a lot of things to see and do. It is also only 50kms away from my familly's place so a visit was a must. I went there with my 15 year old son. After a friendly discussion with the sales guy I was offered a test drive. He said: "I won't go with you. You go with your son. This is a road book for him with turn by turn instructions that will guide you to a variety of roads where you can appreciate the performance of the car". The road book was indeed in the form of a real rally road book that a copilot would get at the RAC! This is never going to happen in Singapore!

And it was a real blast. The car is a lot of fun. It is light, rigid, sharp. It is really connected to your brain. The auto box is incredible. I couldn't do a better job with a stick and wouldn't miss it. There is plenty of usable power. 250hp does not sound a lot but with only a ton to move it gives a pretty impressive push with a nice top end of the rev range that gives that extra boost. 30mn in the car on roads that I was discovering gives only a glimps of what this car can do. I want one...

And this is the ancester it was built upon. This probably is the most iconic French rally car along with the Peugeot 205 Turbo. This nice piece is in museum condition and estimated at a cool S$200k.
