CKP 3rd Gear April 2, 2012 Share April 2, 2012 (edited) https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/th...r/2127rank.html Singapore's fertility rate hit an all time low of 0.78. It is now ranked #222 in the world out of 222 nations according to preliminary CIA estimate. Oh no, is this not year of the DRAGON when more births are expected? Sosaria Turbocharged April 2, 2012 Share April 2, 2012 actually how they count the fertility rate?? Number of birth divide by total citizen??? if so, so many pink IC given out sure drop one You're right. The key thing is, how did they define this figure?? By the total number of adults within the age range for child-bearing (for the women)?? If so, it possibly shows that many adults of this age were "imported" in recent years, far overtaking the number of births, thus the figure dropped drastically. CKP 3rd Gear April 2, 2012 Author Share April 2, 2012 (edited) actually how they count the fertility rate?? Number of birth divide by total citizen??? if so, so many pink IC given out sure drop one The total fertility rate is a period rate and hence a synthetic number... basically, it does represents an imaginary women giving birth to 0.78 child in her fertile lifetime.
