been disappointed thus far with overrated Peranakan eating places in Melaka.

The Perankan restaurants in Singapore should get back to basic. Over the top and too expensive. That's why it doesn't have a strong following in Singapore. People don't see it as authentic. As for Chicken Rice, the Singapore version is over rated. I'm still looking for a chicken rice stall that I like.

Yes, we are a funny nation, especially when it comes to owning a car. At least, I can still hunt around for the elusive hawker foods that still kept up the old standards. The now gone Newton Char Keow Teow stall is a good example. The uncle made sure he fried the keow Teow to his satisfaction and didn't care about the queue behind or maximizing his income by short cuts. Then this Char Keow Teow stall at the Seah Im Rd hawker centre did exactly the opposite. The frying took only a few seconds, and the Char Keow Teow is stilll dripping wet with the dark sweet sauce. Yes, it's lunch time, got to be fast.
