The proposed changes, which may be modelled after the system for motorcyclists, whereby riders chalk up experience on smaller bikes before moving on to bigger ones, are believed to be part of a wider review on driving licences.

While it is too early to tell how the changes may affect drivers, one industry body backing such changes said on Monday that it was 'a timely move' as the issue of motorists' behaviour has been a hot topic since a fatal accident involving a Ferrari and ComfortDelGro taxi on May12.

A police spokesman confirmed on Monday that a review on driving licences was ongoing but was 'unable to share more details at this stage'.

is it like Gran Turismo license test?

imo, just another $$$ making hullabaloo...

and besides, even if this was implemented years ago, it wouldn't have prevented the accident since this FT driver don't need SG license at all. sheeesh...

You may be aware that more/many got difficulties driving SUV/2.0L cars within 3.5M lane (road hogging with 2 wheels on Lane 1 and 2 wheels on Lane 2).

Another drastic action by LTA. Everytime something goes wrong, we have to revamp the system. The ferrari accident has nothing to do with driving license. It is just reckless driving beating the red light. Should all drivers go through a personality test before getting a driving license. Come on LTA, accidents happen and you think another driving license category will make the difference??!!

i think they will break COE into more Categories.

A for below 1100cc

B for 1101-1600cc

C for 1601-2000cc

D for 2001-2500cc

E for 2501-3000cc

Different courses needed for Cat C/D/E

Quota adjusted up for Cat A and Down for C/D/E total, Cat B remains, since they want to control traffic, smaller cars are better.

A bit conservative hence CAT D&E might merge.

1st Gear

Useless if foreigners come and drive (rent, borrow or own).

The most they have to do is pass BTT?

Always feel that converting foreign license via BTT is too easy.

Don't think so. This will cause more fluctuations in COE which is why now there is only CAT A & B for cars. If LTA decide to move back to more categories, they are walking backwards and not learning from past mistakes.

3(1) - 1000cc & below

3(2) - 2000cc & below

3(3) - 3000cc & below

3(S) - above 3001cc
