Nzy Twincharged May 26, 2012 Share May 26, 2012 (edited) For white rims try cleaning once really thoroughly then polish it. Wax it after that. Should be much easier to clean the next time. Don't leave the rims until it gets too dirty before washing or else will be even harder to wash. Edited May 26, 2012 by Nzy
Rb26dett Clutched May 26, 2012 Share May 26, 2012 yes , as Nzy has pointed out. do wash it clean and have it polished and wax it . dirt/tar/pad compound will not stick so easily onto it. if all else fails , you can always respray it back to the same colour.decals on the rims can be custom made or purchased so no biggie. Kyrios Turbocharged May 27, 2012 Share May 27, 2012 For me a tip would be to rotate the front and rear tyres/rims regularly..because usually the front rims will be subject to more heat and brake dust..so rotate them every 10K to ensure each rim gets to 'rest enaf'... Forhod Clutched May 28, 2012 Share May 28, 2012 You can try this product which is also featured at the MyAutoBlog. http://www.mycarforum.com/blog/myautoblog/...emium-car-care/ I use to have a blacken rim cause by chain flings on my bike rim which I given up washing. I noticed my friend's bike is very clean and ask about his rims cleaning regime which he recommended me the S100. I'm using the S100 Total Cleaner for my bike rims and it works very well without breaking a sweat.. you might wanna try it. I got it from Biketech 21.. It is located 45 Dunlop St.. It is not cheap though, about $50++ for a big bottle if I didn't recall wrongly.
Fcuktion Neutral Newbie June 4, 2012 Share June 4, 2012 Coatings like Cquartz/Gtechniq/Optimum. If not pittings and iron fillings start appearing you will want to throw away the wheels. Though iron fillings can be removed by IronX.
Cliveekeo Clutched June 8, 2012 Share June 8, 2012 To protect white rims, wash it clearly and then put some wax on it and after some days again was it thoroughly.
Gee 1st Gear June 9, 2012 Author Share June 9, 2012 I ended up using white sponge and mild plastic polish compound to lift up the stain. Cost me $5 diy, i must say it turned out good. Waxed it as well after wash n dry. Thanks all for the input! ↡ Advertisement
