Road Trip to Cherating.......

Not many interesting areas enroute to Cherating. Typical small Malaysian towns along the way : if taking NSHW, there'll be Yong Peng, Segamat. If taking coastal road, there'll be Mersing, Pekan. Journey should take about 6 hrs; mostly non-highway. The small towns are good for some local flavours, look up some road trip tips done by other members.

Was at Club Med Cherating last year. Very family oriented place. Not suitable for people looking for peace and quiet or a business type hotel. Standard Club Med activities. Look it up online.

Carpark safe enough. Non-sheltered car park within resort. Located quite a distance from main buildings. However, resort will provide a van to fetch you to and from carpark.

Rooms were quite pathetic. Akin to NTUC chalet type quality. Have to understand that at Club Med, you are not supposed to spend time in the room. Activities are all outdoors.

Safety is not an issue. Whole area safe for kids to run around. However, there's local wildlife (iguanas, macaque) roaming freely around the resort.

Food all halal. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available 24/7, all inclusive.

Staff are very friendly. In fact, I find that's what makes Club Med great. The friendliness of the GOs (that's what the staff are called) is un-paralleled. Makes everyone feel very at home.

Club Med is a full board resort. Don't need to leave resort at all. Everyone is friendly to each other - guests, staff. Never felt so welcome anywhere else.

Hi bro, are you able to advice on the cost per pax when you were there?? Which route did you take to go there??

Cost per pax varies. Depends on accommodation type, season and popularity. It's almost like buying a budget airline ticket. The price fluctuate. Just check their website for prices.

I drove via NSHW to Yong Peng, then turned off to join Route 1. Some say this is quite a boring route but it suited me, meals wise. The coastal Route 3 via Mersing is said to be more scenic but winding. A longer but smoother drive is via NSHW and Karak Highway.

Just came back from Club Med Cherating. Nice place with lots of food, booze & activities. Rooms were quite old though.

Drive was a good 7 hours including lunch & toilet breaks. Really nothing to see on the way. All the palm plantation & open land. Good to set off as early as possible to avoid the heat. Temperature hit 40 degC at some point in the afternoon.

Turbocharged

Has anyone driven up to cherating recently via nshw exit segamat and thru the federal highway? Drove thru there last year and they were widening the fed highway from 1 lane to 3 lanes each. Seems like 70% complete then. Any one knows if its completed now?

Will be going to Club Med Cherating in Oct and plan to take route 3 all the way.

Plan to start at 7am get to Kiang Kee BKT for BF and leave by 10am for the rest of the journey.

Are there any interesting stops along the way to take a breather or 2?

Went to Clubmed Cherating last Dec. More or less took the same route as you. First breakie at Kiang Kee BKT. After that, continued to drive to Kuantan and have lunch (roasted duck) at UK Loh, which was quite good. You may consider that.

There is Mersing, Rompin, Pekan and Kuantan. Kuantan will be better, can go East Coast Mall walk walk and shop for the necessities and get tibits.
