30-year-old Mohammad Ridzuan Jamari was charged with one count of committing robbery while armed with a deadly weapon.

So the screwdriver is a deadly weapon?

And stealing a gun is considered as robbery?

I think this Ridzuan got very very brave heart to pull the stunt in a army camp!

The justification of obtaining the stolen gun must be so overwhelming for him to carry out the robbery!

Perhaps need to rob Casino? Or to one up the Samurai sword case?

Armed with only a screwdriver to rob a rifle? That's what I call a stupid robber. [laugh]

Turbocharged

Something very wrong with our education system to raise such passive people.

A young man, given military training, holding a rifle, and let it be taken away by someone armed with 20cm screwdriver?? Like, 20cm is not very long... I think the SAR-21 still got length advantage, can be used to clobber the other guy. Some more, they were right in the middle of an army camp!

I'm really scratching my head over this case. Next time our enemies don't need to get so sophisticated weapons... hardware store tools will do [laugh]

Yup, but reading the article it really sounds like he managed to get hold of the rifle. "Stole" implies quietly taken, but it says he "robbed"??

He probably knew only the RPs at the gate are armed with live rounds only...

[confused]

A soldier holding a rifle just hands it over to a civilian threatening him with a screwdriver? [rolleyes]

Suddenly, I have grave doubts about our Armed Forces' ability to fight in a real war. <_<

Just kidding. There's nothing "sudden" about my doubts - I've harboured them for a long time. [:(]

Scarly he use his SAR 21 to clobber the robber and the robber dies, he will be charged for murder ah! If kena rob, at least he is the victim

Maybe the soldier was thinking when he hand over the rifle, he can then grab the screwdriver and reverse the roles??? [:p][laugh]

That is my thinking when I read the news. How to fight a war with this type of soldiers.
