New_Atlantis 3rd Gear June 22, 2012 Share June 22, 2012 Recently while driving on coastal road, i have noticed a white bicycle chained to a tree, with little flowers and plants sticking out. I just found out that it is a memorial to the cyclist that were killed along that road. http://ghostbikes.org/ oh the irony, i just saw a new accident sign, looking for witness located 10 meters from this white bike. The funny thing is, even with this somber reminder i still see riders cyclist riding two across and worst sometimes 3 across. they still think they are on their grandfathers road. i wonder if a more direct approach is needed to drill some road manners into these cyclist. examples of banners 1) ABC undertakers! 50% discount for all cyclist on this road. 2) Singapore liver foundation, a big thank you to all the cyclist for you weekly donations. 3) MBS, feeling lucky?? why not come to our casino! we have better odds! ↡ Advertisement

SimonTan 2nd Gear June 22, 2012 Share June 22, 2012 There was also a white BMX at Nee Ann Poly last years when a cyclist died there too. Is this the standard for dead cyclist.....white bicycle symbolism? How it came about? Standard worldwide?

Sosaria Turbocharged June 22, 2012 Share June 22, 2012 Wow! At first I thought there were reports of a ghostly bicycle spotted late at night on the road! By the way, cycling 2 abreast is actually permitted as it makes cyclists more visible on the road. Just that they will occupy one lane, and this is where there's some confusion here - because we do not have a dedicated cycling lane.

What's so wrong about cycling 2 abreast on Changi Coastal Rd? The road has 2 lanes. Don't ask why not cycle on PCN. Because it could not accommodate any speed above 20km/h. For large group...they take up the whole lane... Actually that I am also ok...as long as you stay within the pack...its safer. WHAT I CANNOT TAHAN IS.... The lone moron who thinks his legs are supercharged and decides to pull out from the pack and cycle on the next lane while he huff and puff to overtake the pack....the whole lane is jammed becos of 1 single idiot. IMO sometimes that lone moron might not be a moron. Maybe he was infront before that and he filter out to let the rest pass him as he wants to rest? When cycling in groups I think most will do that. No one will stay at the front all the time.

For what ever reason...he/she should stay in the lane....2 lanes take up one...and still must go into the other lane ?? The cyclists should work out a system to let the tired rider move back of the pack. Or whatever reasons. Bikers ask motorist to adapt to them begin on the road...its like foreigners coming to Singapore and ask Singaporean to adapt to their presence. Mana got logic ?? ↡ Advertisement
