Tesla might have better cost structure than traditional ICE maker.

Tesla uses a lot of robot and giant casting machines from Idra

Selling direct save dealership margins too.

Talking about EV, this ID Buzz competitor has a really unique selling feature - zero front blind spot. The first in the world! Too bad it is not from a main stream car maker so most likely will not be hitting our shore.

"...With great power comes great road tax

In Malaysia, you're taxed based on how much you're pushed back in your seat when you go full throttle on your EV.

Tesla RWD: About $2.2k

i4: If edriver35, it is about the same as Tesla

Anything above 300hp will be very expensive.

$4,180 for a 400hp zero exhaust emissions EV is daylight robbery by LTA/NEA.

Ferrari Roma's 3.9L V8 twin turbo 612hp with dirtiest VES C2 emission is $3,722 per year, only.

Road tax is supposedly to tax vehicles and penalize those with high emissions, but it has become a money grabbing exercise for the LTA.

Sooner or later, it will be harmonised.

A45s only pay $1.2k road tax.

If based on power, it will be $3.6k.

Are Conti EV cars lower maintenance and less prone to breakdown as compared to Conti ICE cars?

In general, EV has almost zero maintenance.

I wonder if Conti EV will be more reliable and lesser breakdown when compared with Jap ICE cars..

Difficult to compare.

German air cond confirm will lose out to Jap.

Brake will definitely last longer.

Coolant may be about the same.

Other than that, not much can compare

Generally I would prefer Jap ICE for it being less problematic.. so would pick a Corolla over Conti ICE models.. but if a budget Conti EV like the Opel Mokka EV can be even less problematic than Jap ICE, then maybe can consider a budget Conti EV..

Not really lah... stupid EV does not pay petrol tax to govt, so wise govt must find a way to get the funding to help Singaporeans improve their lot.

Otherwise who pay for your highway to do 2sec 0-100 ludicrous mode?

And more importantly who will pay for LTA spanking new building in Jurong?

Currently, there are 2 types of EV (from my POV)

1. Compromised EV: This is based on ICE chassis.  Avoid it as it is NOT optimised for electric driving;

2. EV: This is based EV archi (Chassis and electrical system)

Mokka is a compromised EV

Tesla is an EV
