Anyway, most AD workshops use Shell Helix. My guess is that Shell is pushing the oil to them at very cheap prices. And when these AD workshops still use 5W40 when most car manufacturers call for 5W30 or even 5W20 in the owner's manual, it's clear for all to see that the AD workshops don't give a damn about the manufacturer specifications.

Hypersonic

I don't even want to touch Shell Helix oil.. it's crap. So why bother when other better oils are selling at a cheaper price than this crap?

Just read the other posts and you'll know what I mean.

Think you should consider the viscosity of the oil too.

Shell Helix Ultra sucks. The oil seems good only during the first 1-2k km.

C@rlube or Schnell gives the same kind of performance at 1/2 the price.

the shell oil meet merc specs. mb229.5

i may be talking nonsense..perhaps the 'formula' is customized for mb..isn't good for other makes, that's why some bro feel its crap after using it?

am on 5w40 for about 12k km already.. don't feel anything about rougher engine or poor mileage.

i've bought some mobil one... gonna try it (and compare) in my next servicing.
