Timbuktu Clutched July 9, 2012 Share July 9, 2012 Profit driven, Operate with virtually no competition and yet get $100M (?) govt funding on tax payers' expense. .. SBS must be very happy Taxpayers' expense for taxpayers' benefit/gain. As a citizen, I fully endorse this move by the LTA. We need to incentivize more marginal car owners to switch to public transport more effectively. Improving on public transport first and foremost, would surely be key! Dice 3rd Gear July 9, 2012 Share July 9, 2012 Yes government support good, use taxpayers money fine... but government should mandate sbs to payback the money instead of making this a costless handout. I cannot see why a public listed company should get costless handout? Even a simple investment requires some form of returns so why shouldnt this be the same?! KARTer 2nd Gear July 9, 2012 Share July 9, 2012 Profit driven, Operate with virtually no competition and yet get $100M (?) govt funding on tax payers' expense. .. SBS must be very happy Actually the company's profits over the years could have been used to expand their fleet if it was not a profit-driven public transport campany which interestingly has monopolised the market. Wt_know Supersonic July 9, 2012 Share July 9, 2012 (edited) for the next few years, if there is a jump in revenues and profits so, big bonuses and higher dividends or payback $$ to govt? what say you? is it still tax payer money to tax payer benefit? Taxpayers' expense for taxpayers' benefit/gain. As a citizen, I fully endorse this move by the LTA. We need to incentivize more marginal car owners to switch to public transport more effectively. They already save on coe and taxes but create unnecessary admin work and have to come out with explainations to justify what they are doing.
