Ideally speaking,

If elsewhere is cheaper, bigger, safer, everything better, on and on..

The opportunity to move overseas will be smooth as butter, job available etc.

All you need to do is say yes or no,

How many would move in a heartbeat?

How many would still stay behind?

^_^

I am never a quitter. I'm a stayer.

Nowhere in the world can I displace my roots purely for economic reasons.

Economics does not have a heart. We do.

Our family and friends are what we lived for and die for.

Be it for richer or poorer, sickness and in health, this is my SPARTA !!

Will go but have to be sure that everyone is taken care of in the family... Education for kids, care for parents etc...

So far I have not seen a place that is ideal.

Honestly speaking, conditions in S'pore has more positives than negatives, hence most will not have a very compeling reason to jump ship.

It would be perfect if the weather in S'pore is temperate like that of California...

I agreed, sillypore condition really have more positives than negatives. Which is why if you are a foreigner elsewhere, confirmed will stay in sillypore rather than elsewhere. Even my japanese colleague also find sillypore so much better than japan! [rolleyes]

Everybody got this feeling in their bones as to where this country is headed to. Its somewhere not nice.

Some have moved. Some wants to move but for parents, money, friends, fear still remain.

And there are some who for whatever reasons see the sky here as very blue and not a cloud in the horizon. Let them be.

And then theres this category where I fall in. Too young to stop working. Too old to be packing up and migrate. But I'm laying the groundwork for the next generations to move.

I don't want my grandkids growing up in this system. Its not a life. My kids don't have an idea what constitute a country.

Gd luck Singapore. You'll be stuck in a rut depending on a rent-seeking economy. New migrant comes in, old ones move out. And only the landlords benefit. And in Singapore we know who that is. <_<
