The only right thing to do now is to reduce those taxes on oil so that pump prices can reflect more of the current situation.

if petrol prices drop by eg. 50cts across the board, that could instantly take some hardship off businesses and the public.  It would then spur some spending activities in the economy to work the multiplier effect

They need billions of fundings for the Corona fight, while GST, fuel duties etc collections are coming down due to reduced economic activities.  If fuel duties are not up by 10 cents, we must "secretly laugh" liao....

Meanwhile today everything lao sai except USD.  AUD dropped below 83 cents to SGD, Brent at USD25.... The whole world seems to be collapsing with pure fear and panic.

Time to break open the piggy bank. Hope the size of reserve is not too affected.

How cpf can still pay out existing rates will be challenging

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/18/nyse-to-temporarily-close-trading-floor-move-to-electronic-trading-because-of-coronavirus.html

The New York Stock Exchange said starting March 23, it will temporarily close its historic trading floor and move fully to electronic trading.

The move came after two people tested positive for coronavirus infection at screenings it had set up this week.

The entrants were stopped at the medical screenings at the Big Board.

Forex is too choppy at the moment.

Stay by the side and watch instead.

Change in 1000 pips within a few days were seen recently.

It's the last thing I would be worried about. much to do with politics and financial standing of SG bonds.

They do hv billions. And thats what we have been saving for....unless....

moreover as mentioned, never underestimate the multiplier effect of money.  Cheaper pump prices can maintain economic activity or even spur it during such times.

More needs to be done instead of giving stupid GST credits.
