lazy sales person, 400 enough. really hardworking sales person, especially in construction line, u need to go see architects, home owners, than site visit than maybe go back architects several times a day. average 800 per month is nothing new.

don forget u still need to maintain the car, pay insurance and stuff. 1k is barely enough, seriously

how do you define lazy salesperson?

someone who eat snake or someone who knock off on the dot?

and how do you define hardworking salesperson?

someone who knock off on the dot or someone who works overtime?

and also a smart salesperson plan their route smartly to save time and petrol so that they can meet more clients in a day.

a salesperson who clocks high mileage is someone who is not efficient.

because it could means that they didn't plan their route which is a waste of time and also it means that they are taking too little time on their clients to close any deals which result them in having to travel more to look for customers/clients.

Singapore is not big and also working hours is rather fix.

i didn't know salesperson have to take into consideration Insurance,maintainance,roadtax...etc.

it is their own car afterall.do they consider monthly installament as part of transport allowance?

U one of those that clocks only average $400 per month for fuel?

Well, dono about u but if the company wans me to drive, the allowance should be taken into consideration if it covers my maintenance and all when one takes up the job.

Simple ma, ask any sales person if they would accept a no transport allowance, all full claim on mileage and parking/tolls ect during business hours only at $0.30 per km (assuming your car fc is a bout10km/l?). or better still, the company takes notes of the cars fc and only pay accusingly. [laugh]

i know i wont be so silly to say "ok, thanks for the great offer"

i have friends who thinks like you.

they really depend on the transport allowance to cover their car expenses.

they even bring out their car installments and complain how low their transport allowance is.

for me,iam more concern of my sales target and the commission.

that's why i plan my daily activities carefully.

i pump my petrol about once a week, top up my cash card $100 about once every 3 week and parking coupon about $40/mth.

my FC is about 10km/l.

i knock off on the dot, sometimes overtime abit and sometimes eat snakes with friends.

parking and petrol alone,i never exceed $800.

and iam always happy with the amount of commission i get back.

I'm in marine sector. Company transport allowance $1200 everything in. If drive to Jb to visit customers can claim petrol expenses incurred in malaysia. But my job scope is office base. Which mean 90% in office only 10% outdoor. Petrol expenses per month range from $300-$380 max.

Depreciation, insurance, road tax and home parking and cost of accident should not be factored in your calculation for claiming as you still need to incur such fixed cost regardless of whether or not you use the car for work unless you buy the car for that sole purpose.

How much do you pay for car upkeep per km including tyres and replacement parts etc for ordinary cars? I think no more than 30c per km. Petrol? Less than 20c per km.

So far I spent less than $7k on servicing and changing of parts etc over 180k mileage or nearly 6 years, excluding petrol. That's less than 10c per km. Assuming your auto gear box kaput, add another 10c per km.

I'm in construction as well, travell between 500 to 1000km per month. Got 50c per km. Complained that its troublesome to fill in the damn forms.

So they gave me $400 all in allowance instead [mad]

1000km/mth is not alot.

my weekly distant is about 450-500km including personal usage after working hours which is probably about 100km or less.

SAF reimbursed 60cents per km. not sure is this still the rate now.

When I left SAF a year ago, still 60c. if you left SAF long time ago, i assure you nothing much changed. haha. 10yrs ago, claim private doctor bill also $10, ten years later still $10. petrol also same same 60c despite everything up. keke... but i think 60c quite the standard even outside.

generous? u hav to tink tat for company needing u to drive is tat they are leeching u too...

u wan to tok abt maintanence? tyres, brakes wear off quicker if i use for work purposes together wif personal... if only use for personal, wear off will be slower so need not change so frequently...

u tink any company will work in a manner not to their favour?

still many tings it's not factor in... if kana accident how? company will tell u go fly kite and it's ur bloody business... i noe u may say it's driver's fault for not being careful but use it for work purposes will oso bring the percentage of anyting higher... moreover nowadays so many kuku drivers on the run like mad or blur drivers...

Ya man... I agree with you... last time one of my enciks went into lorong asrama reccee cuz no rover available... come out tyre puncture... haha... whatever he "earned" over few months one shot vomit out. who pity?

The best solution.

Company provide car for sales staff.

dunno about you guys, but I still prefer allowance. I can choose the ride I like. Car provided by company tends to be the usual boring choices. :D

than u are a better sales person than i do [:p][laugh]:D

i am quite obstinate about allowances and commission.

both are money, yes, but they are not related. If u want me to drive, transport allowances must be able to cover the basics.

commission pertains to my salesmanship nothing to do with driving, so commission is an "entity" by itself.

Than again i don have commission.

I be damn if a company tell me "ok no transport allowance for u. u get all from commission".... than might as well i go sell door to door water filter.

I used to work in a company that don give 13th month or performance bonus. they say "all factor into your salary n com already wht...." what a joke. might as well say my pension also already included in my basic pay...some employers are just good with words and exploit staff who are willing to buy what they says.

The more mileage he clocks the more his car ownership is being subsidised if he is claiming 50c or so for each mileage.
