The Government is raising emission standards for new petrol vehicles and petrol quality to ensure cleaner air for all, and increasing the frequency of updates on Singapore's air quality.

The announcement was made by Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Vivian Balakrishnan at the Singapore Environmental Achievement Awards 2012 today.

The measures are part of the National Environment Agency's (NEA) roadmap to reduce sulphur dioxide and particulate matter levels in the air in order to meet the World Health Organization's Air Quality Guidelines.

From tomorrow, the NEA will be updating the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) thrice daily instead of once a day, to make air quality information more relevant to Singaporeans. In addition, PM 2.5 levels - a pollutant emitted from the petrochemical industry and diesel vehicles - will also be made available with the PSI readings.

3 ways NEUTO can help :
1) Reduce your car’s emission & comply to the NEA standards.
2) Identify your car’s problem & rectify them immediately.
3) Get a detailed emission report & have a peace of mind

NEUTO Dry Hydrogen Auto Therapy is the world first Hydrogen Dry Cleaning System that can effectively DIAGNOSEPRESCRIBE, MONITOR and REVITALIZE the car engine with pure and dry Hydrogen Gas stored in the Solid State Metal Hydride Canister. It is exclusively invented for vehicles running on Internal Combustion Engines. NEUTO THERAPY removes stubborn micro molecular carbon layers at hard to reach places like air manifolds, piston rings, valves, and spark plugs without causing any damage to the car engine wall and components in the engine. NEUTO helps your car breathes smoothly and revives the performance to its maximum power and drivability.

ABOUT NEUTOTHERAPY
Your car is like your body; the internal combustion engine is your heart, and the air intake manifolds are your lungs.

Your car breathes to draw in air (oxygen) for the combustion process, and the combustion of the engine puts it into motion.

However, due to the incomplete combustion process, accumulated carbon deposits can cause common automotive problems like rough cold startreduced power during accelerationslurping or gulping noises and intense vibrations during idling.

These are symptoms of problems from your car’s respiratory system, and with Neutotherapy, we can “cure” your car, and make it run almost like new!

You can have full iEGA reports with car emission gas analysis, comparing the results for Before and After   [laugh]

With the recent implementation of more stringent emission standards on existing cars, I am wondering which are the COE cars which are more prone to failing the tests.

Would W124 and old BMWs be able to clear the test?

Those cars not applicable for these new standards

the 'in-use standards' will apply to all

if they raise the in-use standards too high, some older vehicles will never pass the annual inspection

yes, it will only go one direction, stricter, tighter, tougher

I already dropped the idea of owning old cars

either less than 10 years old or classic scheme

Countries like Germany has tight emission standards.

Not easy to maintain car older than 10 yrs.

Meanwhile, old banged up sheets of nissan vanette are able to cruise in belching columns of smoke that put the ash and smoke of Moldor to shame.

we should really thank those fellas who committed us to the paris climate agreement. tears of joy really.

Saw this old Renault passing without problems. Didn't monitor the CO and hydrocarbon levels, but just saw the green "pass" on the screen.

Saw several W124s pass without a hitch too. Will try to capture photo of the readings the next time I'm at Vicom for inspection if I see one of these.

It's far easier for those cars to stay within the CO limits of 3.5 or 4.5 and hydrocarbon limit of 1200 for cars registered before 2001 than the much more stringent criteria for cars registered after 2001 anyway.

If all sensors are in working condition and the car is largely stock (stock air box, no open pod, not tuned for much higher power than stock etc), there should be no problem.
