If the avg crowd for a My Cup match is 6k ppl only, a 80k stadium will not look good on tv. They must have tot if we cant fill up the sitting area, might as well build a small or similar size stadium. But the good thing abt the new one is got VIP lounges to enjoy like watching F1 at the Club or Paddock Suite. Nice food, aircon, instant replay and instant statistics update. Changi_airport Neutral Newbie September 14, 2012 Share September 14, 2012 the 55K capacity was firmed up even during the tender stage.
Taipan49 3rd Gear September 14, 2012 Share September 14, 2012 The new stadium same capacity with old one? Then what for build a new stadium? In the old stadium you were a million miles away from the action. The new one with the tiering means you are a lot closer to the action even if you are in the cheap seats. That will help with the atmosphere. And new one has a roof too. I like that you walk in halfway up with the pitch below you too. But for those saying it should be bigger capacity, how many events realistically will be held to warrant a bigger capacity? Wembley is 90,000 but it really only is used to that capacity maybe <20 times a year. Besides the Singapore v Malaysia football games, that would be realistically only be once or twice a year. Their maybe some international music acts that will add Singapore to their Australia or Japan tours, but bands like U2 only do the big stadium tours every 4 years or so to these places. PorkChong Clutched September 14, 2012 Share September 14, 2012 55K is too small. we need at least a 100K capacity stadium, bring the KALLANG WAVE BACK!
Picnic06-Biante15 Supersonic September 14, 2012 Share September 14, 2012 the 55K capacity was firmed up even during the tender stage. The old stadium seating capacity was marked at 60k but can seat until 70k cos the seats are bench type. The coming stadium are all plastic seat type and will stick at 50k max.... Adrianli Hypersonic September 14, 2012 Share September 14, 2012 Bigger capacity can have more people attend the NDP. Not necessary. More capacity = more uniformed groups needed to fill it up to appear as full house + colour coordination.
