My voltmeter read 12.7 when engine was not running, 13.7 when idling.

It means it's time to change your battery.

Voltage just indicate the state of charge, but doesn't tell you how much life the battery has.

Given the plain driving habit, would the amaron 110D26L battery be an overkill to be installed in this car?

80D26L is good enough.
