Washington, Sept. 19 (ANI): A recent court ruling in Sweden suggests that it may not be a crime to masturbate on the beach, according to public prosecutor Olof Vrethammar.

 

According to The Local's translation of the Swedish newspaper Mitti, Vrethammar was prosecuting a 65-year-old man, who was charged with sexual assault after getting caught in the act in June.

 

A ruling that acquitted the man, found that although he was publicly masturbating, he had not directed his actions at anyone in particular, the Huffington Post reported.

 

Prosecutor Vrethammar told the Mitti that with that ruling they can now conclude that it is ok to publicly masturbate on the beach, although the act may be considered to be disorderly conduct. (ANI)

 

I saw this case somewhere else - he was actually charged with the wrong crime, he was hiding behind some rocks at a lake. The upshot was, he could reasonably expect privacy where he was, so it wasn't assault - HOWEVER, he was most likely guilty of indecent exposure or a similar crime, the prosecutor charged him wrongly
